did you have school friends with step parents etc

I went to school in the 1970s, and it was a small town, but I knew no one who had a stepparent. Only 2 boys were from single-parent families; for one, the father had died, and for the other, he had just gone.
I think it's good these days that it does not matter what families they come from though I know it can get messy in some circumstances. i was just really interested, as I really did not know until I was an adult about stepparents, etc.

I was born in the late 60s and I had step-parents from a very young age. In my family almost everyone in my parents' generation divorced then remarried during the 1970s and 1980s.

I can't remember if my friends had step-parents - it wasn't as common as it is now.

yes, my best friend in school lived with her mum and the mum's new husband. They had a lovely Victorian house and seemed happy.

My df (reactionary, grumpy and old) told me I couldn't be friends with her any more because of 'what her mother had done'. 🙄Which I ignored.

That was 1979
