She came over all smiles with her little son and daughter sitting pretty much right in front of me I was there with my 4 year old daughter who went off playing with her little girl, but the woman just kept looking at me every few second she spoke a few words to me here and there, her daughter ran out of the playground so I went and go her for the women and she was like thank you and said to her daughter look who went and got you look little girl was like hi, I just feel weird about the whole thing and I dont know why

No because how could you even tel that without you been there

you are trying to get a woman’s perspective as to whether this is something a woman would do if they fancied someone

it is SO obvious!

Springadorable · 13/06/2025 16:08

Sounds like she's met you before and you've forgotten

This was a park picnic table style bench if she sat opposite you?

She parked her bum, watched her kids for a bit, passing awareness of you and a friendly
smile, and then off she went home to start on dinner

she’s forgotten you already

She was clearly not going to go after the child and she was getting pretty far away and her mom just kept looking at me then back at her daughter so I felt like we'll guess il need go get her

I meant that she is odd in that scenario, not you, sorry if that didn't come across. I would also feel uncomfortable if that happened.

DaisyChain505 · 13/06/2025 16:18

Sounds like a mum trying to interact with you. Nothing more.

Digdongdoo · 13/06/2025 16:40

Your kids were playing together, so she was probably just being polite struggling to make small talk because you were being awkward. You sound like the odd one to me, wondering why a woman would possibly look at or speak to you...

Clockface9 · 13/06/2025 16:41

What is weird, is this thread Op

Zucker · 13/06/2025 16:41

Why didn't she go running after her own child? Why was she looking to you to go get the kid you don't know! It is odd.

GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut · 13/06/2025 16:53

I don't know why PP think OP was the weird one! She sounds pretty odd to me.

OP when she was doing the 'look who went and got you' to her DD, was that all she said? You're sure she didn't say a name that's not yours at any point and she'd mistaken you for someone she knows?!

Is there anything at all about you that is unusual or interesting to a child? Do you have a blue mohican or were dressed as Super Mario or something?!

I'm really not sure maybe she didn't want to run after her and just leave her son sat there, but give the sons like 7month omahe could of easily gone after her well holding the son

Did you give her a chance or did you just jump into action?

Yep that's all she said no name or anything else and I look pretty standard i do wear a baseball cap all the time also im English and she was Polish by her accent so I really dont think she could mistake me for someone she know

I wouldnt just go after someone else's kid, I sat there a good minute well she watch her daughter run across the playground open the gate and start heading uo the stairs on the main path and the whole time she just keep look back at me and shouting to her daughter to come back, if it hadn't been for the two mom's from my daughters nursery been a couple of benches over from me I wouldn't of gone wouldn't be just leaving my daughter

We can't decipher it, let it go

PosiePetal · 13/06/2025 17:16

I think it sounds like she mistook you for someone famous or she thought she knew you from somewhere. Either way, sounds like mistaken identity.

eqpi4t2hbsnktd · 13/06/2025 17:21

Maybe she is looking for a new daddy for her kids...

Given your thread yesterday about your girlfriend Op…. Not exactly as though you’re in a happy and thriving love match

Darragon · 13/06/2025 17:34

OP is definitely not the weird one on this thread!
OP the woman behaved strangely. Sometimes weird things happen in parks. And on MN.

In this situation I really wish my GF could of been there but trying to get her to come out to do something with our daughter, ha I have more chance of winning the euromillions without a ticket

Well this is seven levels of weirdness isn't it? She was probably sizing you up as a serial killer or a nutter on the run.

Maybe il never see her again and I can forget all about this, besides how she acted i also didnt like that her DD kicked my daughter a bunch of times not letting her get on the play stuff and she didnt say anything to her daughter about it, I just had brushed it off to my daughter an said play on this one next to her but its kinda bugged me now
