Just that really. Any suggestions?

Borough market has lovely food. I think it’s only open on a Sunday but that might have changed.

Oneearringlost · 12/06/2025 15:52

You may want to avoid Camden Market; nothing like what it used to be like, full of cheap, souvenir tat and no vibe now, crap clothes, too.

I'd echo Borough Market, The South Bank can be good, Covent Garden.

What’s your starting point?

Somewhere like Richmond is good for a mooch around.

dandelionandbirdcock · 12/06/2025 15:57

Don’t go to Borough Market it’s heinous and will bankrupt you. London Bridge area is great though, try Bermondsey Street which is lovely, and then head to Spa Terminus or Maltby Street Market which are much quieter and still lots of interesting food stalls.

We're staying about 10 mins walk from Euston but we don't mind travelling about.

Islington, Camden passage just off the Islington green, granary square behind kings Cross station.

Coffeeishot · 12/06/2025 17:20

Granary square is behind kings cross is nice for a mooch i was a tourist so went to camden i promptly left it was too touristy 😀

LoserWinner · 12/06/2025 17:25

Another vote for the area behind King’s Cross and Coal Drop Yard. Or Spitalfields is ok, also Greenwich Market if you fancy a bit further away.

Mercurial123 · 12/06/2025 17:29

Coal Drops Yard has some good food stalls and eat outside by the canal if the weather is nice.

Upper Street from Angel to Highbury and Islington is always good for a mooch. Camden Passage at the Angel end and there is a little market down a side street about halfway up on the weekend. Charity shops there are great.

Stoke Newington also nice for brunch and a wander. Even if it increasingly specialises in Amanda from Motherland Hygge Tygge style shops!

You can drop down to the canal from behind Camden Passage - I like Galata (I think it's called) on the towpath, which does seafood & chips.

Columbia Rd flower market (sunday)

minnienono · 12/06/2025 17:43

Greenwich was still interesting 3 years ago. Not been to Camden since Covid. Take the uber boat to Greenwich

Newgirls · 12/06/2025 17:47

Coal drop yard has craft and fashion stalls near the Waitrose that are usually very good.

borough is heaving at weekends

there is a small but good farmers market by the tube in West Hampstead sat am if you’re near there

LittleBitofBread · 12/06/2025 17:47

Hampstead Garden Village area for the wonderful Heath and lovely streets and shops. Cafes etc can be expensive, but if you're organised you could buy stuff for a picnic.

CortadoPlease · 12/06/2025 17:53

East London! Broadway Market (Sat and Sun), Columbia Road flower market (Sunday) and Victoria Park food market (Sunday). Vicky Park and London Fields have lots of places to eat, drink and people watch. Close to Spitalfields Market too.

abnerbrownsdressinggown · 12/06/2025 18:02

Spitalfields is good and you are also close to Brick Lane and the Truman Brewery which has quite a bit to poke around.
