This is a bedroom. Do I paint the down sloping bit green or white like the ceiling?

Paint it white first then easy to cover with green if the difference in texture in the ceiling & this lower bit make it look wrong. Agree the green may look a bit heavy overhanging but while a faff to do it twice at least you get to see it in white & see if you like it (which wld be my first thought).

Green as it will give the illusion of a high ceiling.

What colour is the other wall going to be? We had similar with all the walls the same colour, but only up to the level that you've currently painted green, so 3 of the 4 walls have a white band at the top. This works in an Edwardian house but I'm not sure it would in a modern one.

The other walls are the dusky pink you see to your right. It's not the same as the pink overhang bit, thats more a bubblegum shade from my younger dd when it was her room.

My son painted the sloping bit in his room to match the wall and it looks great. His sloping bit is textured like the ceiling but it fits in

Yours coving gives the appearance of the ceiling stopping there so would definitely pant the slope green

Expatornot · 12/06/2025 17:54

Green so that the two different textures are the same colour otherwise you have a 3rd ‘difference’

thatsawhopperthatlemon · 12/06/2025 18:01

The more I look at it the more I think some sort of fairly flush dado rail to match the shape of the coving and attached to the slope at the top might be worth a go. You can then paint the slope green up to that, and the dado rail white to match the coving.

Oh I assumed the others were going to be green as well! In that case I’d def paint it green!! It will stick out too much if other walls are staying pink.
