Over ear noise cancelling recommendations for someone who hates flyingns for flight/

I have a short haul flight coming up and im terrified. Looking to buy some over ear headphones for myself (and maybe kids) and taking some sort of screen tablet with me. Any recommendations for either? Kids have laptops we could maybe take (though i havent a clue about downloading) but I haven't got anything myself. Just need something to help distract from my claustrophobia!

They’re a pricey but Bose Quiet have always been my go to. They’ve lasted years with high use, and the pads are replaceable.
My DH swears by the Sony ones which were around £70.

Enjoy your trip - am sure it’ll be worth it!

I have the Sony XM4 and they’re great - the active noise cancellation is excellent. I think there are a couple of new versions now - XM6 - but they’re twice the price of the XM4.

I have AirPods Max which I love if you are on apple, mine came from eBay

Bose quietcomfort - they’re wonderful. I got mine refurbished from Music Magpie and DH got his from vinted. Would highly recommend.

I always found the plane noises were themselves acting as white noise. Is there something specific you are trying to cancel out?

if I may, I would also suggest that you try not to pass your hate of flying to your children - it would be unfortunate if they learn from you that it is something to hate or fear, especially if it affects their adult lives. I do appreciate that it may be hard to mask. We flew long hail with my dcs godmother who had a real fear of flying, but she did an excellent job (and made a huge effort) of covering it up in front of them, which I really appreciated.

@crumpet yes I definitely hide it. I usually listen to hypnosis but this time wanted to try and movie or series

We used Sony CH720N on recent flights to US, about £70 and worked really well for noise cancelling. Am sure more expensive is better but we needed 4 pairs!

Bose Quiet Comfort here too. Pricey but worth every penny.

I have Zenlife. I use them every night at home and take on flights. It's an eye mask as well so you couldn't watch a movies but listen to podcasts or the radio. BBC sounds is good they also have a playlist on Spotify with white noise,, ambient noise etc if that is more your scene. £25 from Amazon, made in the UK

I’m a bit nervous on flights, and watching stuff I’ve downloaded really helps me take my mind off it. Just be aware that you have to put away laptops and tablets during take off and landing, so maybe have something on your phone for that bit, or a magazine.
