Mr Neighbour Totoro play with tweens/teens?

I'm thinking of booking kids theatre week tickets for Mr Neighbour Totoro. But my kids are 11 and 13. Are they too old for this one? My eldest loves Anime hence my thinking he might be interested. Anyone been with kids this age?

Yes @WolfinSheepsDresswe went in the end. We quite enjoyed it but not as much as expected. I think they found it a little childish for them and none of us could really work out the point of it as we didn’t think there was really much of a story. I get that there’s a subtle backstory with the shadow of the war and the nuclear bomb etc but all said and done very little actually happens in the play and we all found it a little monotonous. My sons are very bright grammar school boys and both read widely but I think they just found it a bit slow. I found the cultish adults there rather strange to be honest- there are quite a few grown women dressed like children and carrying soft toys in the audience. We definitely enjoyed ‘The play that goes Wrong’ (our other children’s theatre week pick for this year) a lot better.

It's wonderful, but I can see how you wouldn't get it so much if you haven't seen the animation

Watch the film before you go.
It's an adorable film and once you've seen that and then see the stage one with it's amazing sets and the giant Totoro you will be amazed.
