If you've been together a couple of years, ups and downs. How many times and in what situations ( for want of a better word ) do you tell your partner you love them?

Are you at "I love you" or ( like me ), " love you night night " type?

We've had an early discussion in our relationship about not automatically saying 'i love you' and not saying it reflexively as a response to the other saying it. It's about saying it when you mean it.

That said, I find I message my partner at least once a day to tell her I'm thinking of her and I love her (it's a LDR). Because I do 🙂

At least once a day. But we’re also very affectionate with each other, always doing little things for each other so I feel loved. It isn’t just empty words and if we didn’t say it one day wouldn’t be bothered as I feel it

It doesn't feel authentic, almost like it would be trying to make it stick if that makes sense.

Fair enough. Is it bothering you though? Is it bothering your partner? If there are no issues and everyone is happy , then it doesn’t really matter what everyone else does and how they do it.

Id say a couple of times a day. When he leaves for work, maybe during conversations in the phone/text and before we go to sleep. Been together 11 years

We tell each other a lot, and we mean it
