Ok found it!

dh stands corrected. 33 years this has been bothering me.

I reckon it’s because his mum is not a native speaker.

is it the same in Yiddish? (Niche question….)

My old boss used to describe things as 'quite unique' and 'very unique' all the time. Something is either unique, or not! It used to drive me crazy.

When people say 110%
🤐

TheCurious0range · 07/06/2025 20:29

Does he also say exasperate when he means exacerbate?

This annoys me so much!

“One of the only” really grates. Surely if it’s the only there is only one!

MelliC · 07/06/2025 20:44

Maybe you should point him to "most delicious" or "utterly delicious" which (to me) don't seem so objectionable?

BoredZelda · 07/06/2025 20:49

Spoken English language would be boring if we adhered to every rule.

JemimaPiddlepot · 07/06/2025 21:00

The one that gets me is when people say things like “They’ve made it more easier”. Er, no - they’ve either made it easier or more easy.

Whassat you say?

mumofoneAlonebutokay · 07/06/2025 21:43

So would it be 'incredibly delicious'? Very delicious hits the ear wrong 🤔

Unanimity and the end of a 30 year debate.
rare!
