I couldn’t find a similar thread so apologies if this already exists.

18 days til Glastonbury and I am absolutely beside myself with excitement! It’s my first Glastonbury so I have no idea what to expect really.

Anybody else going and keeping their fingers and toes crossed for sunny days in the fields?

I've put it in my calendar and I'll only be watching at home 😭

Yes, fingers crossed for good weather for you, you lucky thing, I think you'll have so much fun!

Aho are you looking forward to seeing?

I'm excited about Olivia rodrigo, the 1975, maybe loyle carner

Gonna be a good one 🥰

picklyjuice · 07/06/2025 11:06

Oh that sucks! That’s been me every year too. My tenth year trying for tickets and my first success.

Hoping to see Fatboy Slim, Giles Peterson and toying between hard-fi or charli xcx. There are loads of clashes with Charli which I guess is for crowd control reasons.

I’ll try to get to Loyle Carner and Olivia. But mainly I think I’m going to try to ‘go with the flow’ as much as possible :)

are there any other festivals you might try to get to this summer?

I'm going! I've been every year it's been on since 2007. I love it. Best place on earth! Though also hoping for sun!!

I really don’t get the Charli xcx hype, she just seems like all she does is dance in a pair of pants ? Where is the actual talent ?

Have a great time though op, would love to go.

PollyIndia · 07/06/2025 15:16

It's my one weekend I really let my hair down these days. I even ended up being pregnant in a fallow year, though that wasn't planned!
I really hope you love it.
I'm also not bothered about Charli xcx but feel like I should check her out there, and see what the hype is about.
I haven't really looked at what's on, just because I love wandering and discovering new things. But I will at some point. If you haven't discovered Halvin's clashfinder, it's a really good planning tool if you do want to plant a bit. I think this is the most up to date: https://clashfinder.com/s/g2025/?user=18k6td.vc

Yeah I was never particularly bothered about her until Brat came out and I do really like that album. I think her shows look like a fun party! Although I have just seen she’s clashing with hard-fi…that would be such a nostalgic blast I might have to skip Charli.

Ah thanks, this is really useful! I looked on the Glastonbury app and noticed Charli was clashing with hard fi. I didn’t even realise they were playing and hadn’t listened to their music in years, So I will probably find myself there instead.

I like your idea of wandering around and exploring, I’m not going to put too much pressure on seeing anyone in particular. Love that you managed to schedule the baby with the fallow year! Do you bring your children with you too?

I do not! That would not equate to it being the one weekend of the year I let my hair down, ha. I will take him when he is 15ish, and can bring a mate and they can have their own festival, and we can meet up for some music but also have our own fun. He's been to wilderness 5 times and camp festival, but when he was younger. He's not that into it at 12... but it will all change I'm sure.
there are loads of families there though, and the kids field is meant to be amazing. Are you bringing kids?

Yes that makes sense! You sound like a fun parent, I wish my parents would have taken me when I was younger to festivals. No kids yet, but I do have grand ideas about being a festival family one day :)

I'm working in recycling after the festival so will go down the Sunday before and leave the Saturday after - is nice and quiet and clean before the punters come on site. That said have a Dutch friend and he and his partner are bring their two year old baby - they are mad. I suspect Charli xcx will be rammed at the Other Stage a bit like the Sugababes last year so probably best to avoid. I go with a best mate who reveiwing this year so he has a tciket in hospitality near Wooddies so shall get to poke around there and get the shortcut from the Pyarmid backstage coming out att he Other Stage - very handy to have ! Have been coming everey year since 2005 - the last 10 working in recycling so AMA !

Ha yes, I did too... but my son is much less keen on festivalling than me these days!! Hopefully that comes back for him and he heads off to reading with his mates after GCSEs. I think it's such a fun rite of passage.
Festival weather forecast coming into view now, though I know from decades of Glastonbury weather watching that it's unreliable sometimes until the day! Still doesn't stop be becoming slightly obsessive about the weather charts for a fortnight though!

That cut through is the only reason to have hospitality tickets. Saves about 40 mins of walking!
I bet it's lovely before everyone arrives. My friends run san Remo, so he's down there already working on the build. Always sounds really fun (as long as not horrendous weather!)

You're right - I tried blagging it last year with a crew wristband and a quick smiley hello and walked past quickly. Worked once then a firm no. How the other half lives though I bet some never leave backstage - doubly so if they have AAA. Stephen Merchant years ago came down to watch something on the Pyramid years ago - you can't miss him he's very very tall and he very good humourly posed for selfies and took compliments very. I chatted to Steve Davis the snooker player and psy-trance DJ at the Mandala Stage last year and years before at the same palce had a nice chat with Bexz who was off his tits and had a nice minder looking after him to make sure he got to where he was supposed to be going. San Remo is the big dj bar on the way from Pyramid to Woodies I seem to remember. Hopefully the weather gods will llok down on us - it would only take a mudfest for me to call time on it. I'm getting too old and it's got a lot more crowed since they upped the numbers. We won't do Pyramid after dark now as it's just too busy and I need toilets and preferbaly a seat nearby. As for Shangri- La and Arcadia I am very happy to give the youngsters my place.

Yes it islovely - the recylcing crwe start gathering from Sunday and fil up Tom's Field and another field just past the farm - it's a brigand's camp of lovely people and friend's we see once a year and catch up with.

PollyIndia · 13/06/2025 07:44

I completely agree re a muddy one... 2016 was the last one, and I loved it for various reasons, but not sure I've got it in me this year (and I'm secretly relieved its not on next year - no ticket or weather stress!)! I'm 49 so defo need sleep, but I'll do one night down at shangri la and block 9. And I love Arcadia, even if just for an hour, though I miss the spider.
That sounds like a lovely setup you have. Glastonbury has lots of little communities of people who go year after year, either because they all work and have the connects, or music biz people, or they know how to work the ticket booking system. There's loads of people I see once a year a Glastonbury, usually at this one party on Saturday night, and it's like a big happy reunion each time. I'm getting excited typing this!

PlumpHobbit · 27/06/2025 17:33

Actually going to Glastonbury, or any festival, looks my idea of hell (the crowds, the long amount of standing up, the camping, the TOILETS 🤢) but I enjoy watching it on iplayer, from the comfort of home

Lewis Capaldi has just put on a brilliant performance, gave me goosebumps, the crowd gave him a fab reception

Wish they'd show Arcadia on iplayer

LoveLifeBeHappy · 07/07/2025 14:24

@picklyjuice Thoughts on the festival OP, enjoy it? There was a lot of coverage on the BBC which was great - my favourite was Prodigy!

Weirdly, I also liked Kneecap even though it's something I would never listen to, but they had the crowd going wild!
