Period pants - which ones?

I did search but there doesn't seem to be a recent thread on this and I know things change - so asking for recent experience of period pants brands please (UK). The ones I see advertised are quite pricey so would like a recommendation before buying.

I own some M&S ones and some Cheeky Pants which are OK - but they are all 'silky' on the outside, which makes my trousers slide down - especially workout leggings.

Are there any that are affordable, effective and are just cotton or whatever you need to get some friction between pants and trousers?!

Thanks!

I found the Primark ones to be better than the more expensive branded ones. Much thinner but just as good. I haven't hand washed either and just shove them in the usual washing (maybe a quick rinse first).

The Modibodi boy shorts I have aren’t shiny material. Not sure about their other styles.

I wear M&S and they are not silky?

Not cheap but My dd likes the wukA ones - she also didn’t get on with cheeky ones

ZZGirl · 05/06/2025 15:52

Mine are sainsbury and M&S. Comfy and affordable.

mambojambodothetango · 05/06/2025 19:58

Thanks all. The M&S ones I have are definitely not cotton on the outside - probably viscose or similar.

I got some cotton ones off Temu which are actually ok.

FizzySherbet · 05/06/2025 20:19

I’ve had Modi-bodi for a few years which have been great. Especially the nighttime ones! Have just bought Wuka to replace them but haven’t tested them yet.

MarySueSaidBoo · 05/06/2025 20:20

I bought some recently from M & S and they are Modal rather than cotton. They're a nightmare, as they slide down if you're wearing a skirt and if you're wearing trousers, they move constantly. My older ones were cotton and much more comfortable. And I sized down....

YouCantBeSadHoldingACupcake · 05/06/2025 21:45

Another vote for primark. Fairly cheap and work better than my cheeky ones

mambojambodothetango · 20/06/2025 19:06

Update for anyone interested - I bought some Wuka ones but they were the same synthetic material that makes trousers slide down so am going to exchange them for their more expensive cotton ones.

Thirding the support for Modi Bodi boy shorts, super comfy, soft cotton, definitely no silkiness!

Just noticed you'd already bought Wuka, would definitely encourage switching MB, they're honestly the best I've tried.

oustedbymymate · 20/06/2025 20:13

Modi bodi I really rate mine

WasherWoman25 · 20/06/2025 20:15

We got my DD a few of the more expensive ones originally, but then recently we picked some up in Primark originally as spares, she actually prefers them and wears them to start with now and uses the expensive ones as spares. They are cotton like on the outside (can’t say without looking if they actually are cotton but that feel, not silky).

How are you going to exchange underwear?

MotherWol · 20/06/2025 20:18

Another vote for Primark - I have the cotton ones, I think they’re the hipster style which is a fairly full coverage ‘big pants’ cut. Great for overnight use, I really rate them.

SENSummer · 20/06/2025 20:21

I got a wuka set and I’ve never looked back. About to buy one of their swimsuits too.

agree there’s a lack of guidance I also felt quite lost when I was looking buy wuka happened to have a great sale on at the time which swung me

Wuka have a really good refund/exchange policy. I didn't even put these on as I could see they were the wrong material as soon as I opened one packet (bought a set of 3). But you can in theory wear them and wash them and still return them if you're not happy. I don't think they re-sell those ones! Really good customer service.

LoveLuna do a few styles in cotton and elastane. I have some Cheeky wipe ones in the same satin feel and they make me so sweaty at night time!

Maarva · 20/06/2025 23:28

Wuka are incredible. I’ve had some for over 10 years, still going strong.

PearlsPearl · 21/06/2025 08:38

All of mine for daytimes are Wuka. My overnights are modibodi. Love them both!

I know what you mean about the material.

I actually wear the Wuka lightest flow ones every single day. I have a weak bladder and can sometimes leak a little and they just give me the reassurance of a back up. But they are the material you mentioned. My actual ones used for period are cotton though.
