Missing lateral incisor

My DD(11) had an orthodontist appointment yesterday as she is missing a lateral incisor. It sounds like the options are going to be:
Remove the other lateral incisor on the other side and have braces to close the gaps or have a false tooth put in. Has anyone had a similar choice and which did you go for? Really not sure how the canines would look next to the front incisors. Thanks

Also we were told by both our private dentist and the NHS one that did the braces having false teeth implanted would be fine but you have to be prepared for repair work all your life as they tend to snap.

Yes, our dentist said to factor ongoing cost into it too, I didn’t know they could snap though

It was one of the options. We were given several. Close gap and have the incisors filed down and extra “fake” bits out on the next ones along to make these look like the incisors. But they both said the fake bits are not as strong as real and have a tendency to snap/chip. They just said factor it in that in their adulthood they would need regular work for this option.

No dental treatment lasts forever and you always have to factor ongoing maintainance and replacement for life.

with implants the crowns on top tend to need replacing , the abutments (the bit the crown fits onto) May need tightening and replacing and over the lifespan of a young person the implant itself will probably need replacing a few times,

Smoking, vaping , diabetes and oral hygiene will all affect the lifespan of the implant .
