PK means the child is working below expected level of their Key Stage, the higher the number, the closer they are to the level expected

What's it mean in years though. Pk 6 doesn't mean year 6 does it ?

My understanding is that PK6 is equivalent to a KS2 child achieving the level expected at the end of Key Stage 1.

Sorry i should have said in my op that I have learning difficulties. So I dont know what any of this means . And the links are even more confusing. Sorry i didn't mention in my op. I thought was a straight forward answer such as pk 5 = year 2 pk6 year 3 or what ever.

It is an entirely unhelpful school report - they should explain what the levels mean instead of assuming parents know! Ask school to provide you with an explanation, they should be happy to do that. Other parents will also be baffled I'm sure.

It's on the last page of EHCP

DS is in KS2 (so year 3, year 4, year 5 or year 6), yes?

PK stands for pre-key stage. This means he isn’t yet working at year 3 level.

For KS2 pupils, there are 6 pre-key stage standards. PK1 to PK6.

PK5 means DS is working towards the expected standard for KS1.

PK6 would mean DS would be working at the expected standard for KS1.

You can see what each pre key stage standard covers in this link. You don’t have to read it all, for the basic information about what each standard covers skip to the pages with the yellow (English) and blue (maths) bits on the pages.

As I understand it (I haven't taught for a while, so I may be wrong), this means your child is working at Y2 level, in all areas. In some (PK6), they are working where they would expect a child to be at the end of Y2. In others (PK5), they are working where they would expect a child to be near the middle of the year.
