Good Morning All! What are you all up to today?

I'm just finishing my first cuppa of the day, in my kitchen spot. The kittens are fed & vanished off back to bed (no mountaineering today! Boy cat sprawled out in the window enjoying the sun!). I've had a quick tidy round the kitchen, while the kettle boiled, and sorted a load of washing that I'll get going in a minute.

I have lots of little bits to finish today - 2 peg dolls to add details to, then all need varnishing, yeti needs its arms, then a wash because some numpty knocked tea on him 🙄, some printing for my lesson, and a nip for something for tea since I didn't get to Lidl yesterday. I'm giving myself til half past, then making a start.

Dd2 has homework to finish off - Maths and some Health and Social work. She's done the majority. I might see if she wants to sit with me to do it. And dd1 needs to do some revision for Tuesday's Law exam. She'll huff that she has been doing it, then do some more anyway 🤷‍♀️.

I've just realised someone needs to get cat litter...probably me <sigh>.

Tea will be whatever I choose at Lidl, followed by my usual Self-Care-Sunday scrubby everything shower and reading my book until I go to bed, ready for the 6am alarm <yawn>.

What about all of you? 🙂

Changed my mind about the strawberries and have decided to rustle up a peach and cinnamon cake instead. I haven't made a cake since lockdown!

Morning all, missed yesterday's thread as we were out for the day (was a glorious 26c here yesterday!)

Much cooler today and perfect for our "sort out the chaos of half term" day.

The house is upside down, the kids are half feral so we are having a semi quiet day.

So far 2 lots of washing done, shoe rack culled and tidied, x2 cat litter trays cleaned, salad drawer and fridge cleaned, shopping arrived and put away.

Kids are all doing homework and after lunch Daddy is taking them for a bike ride / to the big adventure playground so I can crack on with the endless list of chores. I will make sure I have regular tea breaks 😄

As well as the chores I want to batch cook a curry, a pot of my tomato sauce (for pasta) and roast a chicken for dinner. We'll have it with salad, coleslaw and mash.

Hopefully later a film and an early night.

Will be glad to get back to normality once they're back to school. It's been a hectic half term.

Afternoon all!
Didn’t have time to swing a car yesterday so missed everyone else’s gentle plans for the day.
We have just got back from our monthly green volunteering, only had time to swig a coffee before leaving, and took the easy “meal deal” lunch option on way home as we had to stop off for youngster’s packed lunch and meat component for their dinner (they chose, predictably, pork) so will make some “red spectrum” coleslaw and something else!

In between it’s revision revision revision
Row about revision

The house is chaos, chores on a last minute need to rota.
Garden is chaos.
I only know exam timetable everything else is last minute.

There are still revision books and papers over every kitchen/lounge surface. We can only cross off one subject this week, but by end of the following week down to two subjects.

So 2 weeks 2 days more of GCSE take over bid and then a great summer-declutter.

My insane 16 year old has “no intention of throwing away his GCSE revision books and notes” - he is out of his fucking mind. We will keep until results day, then I will keep the a level subjects, they will all be gone under the cover of darkness if need be by Christmas!

No way can we deal with youngster GCSE and eldest A level notes, we don’t have a spare library wing in our modest semi- detached!

Happy June everyone (the best month of the year).

lucysmam · 01/06/2025 13:44

@frozendaisy we need a great summer declutter here too!

I've finished the peg dolls and started varnishing, finished and washed Yeti - he's drying on the line. Next up is get dressed and go to Lidl. Then printer out for work stuff & a couple of Vinted labels. Might try and work out a layout for my Inhalerween "Who's Your Money On?" replica bank note too!

At this rate I might actually get a couple of hours to re-write my ever growing list of requests for dolls/display props for work & do some research for books I don't know. And take off the press on nails that are heading into their third week (I did not expect to actually need to take them off!).

‘Morning’ we had a very late night so we had a very slow start today. We’re going out for lunch soon, its one of our favourite places here so I’m looking forward to that. After that we’re going for quite a long walk and taking a picnic for dinner.

Have a fab sunday.

Good afternoon I was up at 9am to do a couple of dump runs which turned out to be 5! All garden waste and bricks etc so was heavy going and got caught in the rain a couple of times. Ds 13 was a great helped so took him to the pub for a cooked breakfast once we were done.

Home now, showered and in my pyjamas. Was going to go for a walk but it keeps raining on and off so really don't want soaked for the second time today. My book 📚 in bed it is then

DilemmaDelilah · 01/06/2025 14:29

Update from me. So so so disappointed! After managing to persuade Mr Dilemma to go to the new 'farm shop' - it's not actually a farm shop at all! Nary a vegetable to be seen, just a cafe with some cakes and pies to buy and take away.

We went for a little drive after that, then Mr Dilemma suggested that we go to our favourite 'pie cafe' (not actually called that) for their absolutely delicious steak and kidney pie. It's about half an hour away down the dual carriageway so it's quite a treat to go there. We drove all the way there only to find they are so short staffed today that they aren't doing any main meals at all.

We ended up having perfectly adequate ham egg and oven chips somewhere else. Most disappointing. Especially the oven chips. The only reason I have chips when I'm out is because they are deep fat fried and I never deep fry anything at home. I rarely fry anything, in fact, so luscious crispy little fat sticks are a treat. Except they weren't.

Had reformer Pilates this morning 8:30 with a friend which was nice. Me and DH done 2 tip runs between us. He’s out for a walk now and I’ve got 2 training sessions for an upcoming event, one this afternoon and one this evening. Kids just been hanging out. DH has annual company wide day off tomorrow so basically another bank holiday for us! :)

ssd · 01/06/2025 16:10

What a shame @DilemmaDelilah

I hate when a farm shop isn't a farm shop. I love some fresh fruit and veg and plenty to moich round. Not a glorified corner shop.

RabbitsRock · 01/06/2025 18:31

Evening @lucysmam & everyone - yet again the day has run away from me! It’s been mostly nice & chilled & DH & I have both felt more connected to DD16, despite an argument this morning. Just been showing her some baby photos plus some things that her birth Mum sent for her via her foster carer. They have been up in the loft & DH was (eventually ) putting some Christmas stuff away so brought them down. I really don’t think we could have done that even a year ago as DD was so hostile towards us. DH & I have also sorted out a massive pile of bedding & have 2 bin bags full to take to the Sally Army collection point. Going to advertise a couple of DD’s childhood duvet sets on FB Marketplace. DD needs to get going on photographing some of her clothes for Vinted - there are 3 bags for life full, currently in the lounge. I bought a lot of clothes from charity shops a while back hoping to sell on at a profit (on FB) but barely anything has shifted. Reduced it right down. Washing machine has been on 2 or 3 times & dishwasher unloaded/loaded. Must put salt in next time. DH showered me & washed my hair earlier which was bliss. I need a trim but have to wait until my arm is healed. Eyebrows need waxing too ( DH has been doing the rest of my face with a Braun hair remover). DH is currently hoovering up all the rabbit poo. Toilet desperately needs a clean before my friends pop round for a cuppa tomorrow am. Foodwise I actually had breakfast which is very unusual then a beef & mustard sandwich around 3.30. Having lamb & mint burgers for tea but DH not a fan so he’ll probably have beans on toast. DD always sorts herself out. We’ve been watching “ New Amsterdam” on Netflix & now need something else - it was a really sudden ending. Still wondering if they will make anymore “Greys Anatomy”. Might carry on with “ Code of Silence” as the first episode seemed quite promising. It’s a lovely sunny evening here so I’ll go for a stroll in a little while. Noticed that I get very tired since my accident & then my op. Probably because I’m not very active. Arranged a couple of walks/ cafe stop with friends this week.

Massively late as it is definitely evening now.
I will read back later, but we have had a very productive day/weekend
Our garden project is now finished, took much longer and cost more than we had expected but it's lovely.
Very long story short.
We put veg beds on in 2020, added another one in 2023.
DH finally got fed of of mowing and strimming so we have put stones down, added a lovely wooden arch with climbing plants and a little lavender hedge

I may have bought an olive tree and a bay tree which added to the cost a bit.
I want a tiered herb planter too and then it's really done.
It's beautiful and I'm so pleased 🌱🪻🫐🍅🫒🥒🌽🫛🍓🍏
