Neighbours kid smoking weed in garden

Chamalala · 31/05/2025 20:18

Neighbours are on holiday, and the teen son (somewhere between 17 and 20) is smoking weed in their garden. We had our doors open and the house stinks for the second day in a row.
Would you:

  • suck it up
  • text the neighbour
  • anonymous report to police

There's a massive difference between a BBQ (I'm not a fan myself , but I cannot stop other people , I just need to get my washing in first )
Washing machine , sometimes they are noisy especially at night . But sometimes you have to run it overnight . If you need something washed urgently , or something is soiled .
No-one needs to smoke weed ,

No one needs to bbq and nobody needs to use a washing machine. The fact is people are always going to do things we don't like and you have to pick your battles smoking outside for a few days while their parents are away is not a battle I would pick.

You are intentionally missing the point and you know it

I'm really not i can't even remember what comment you replied to it is nearly midnight

heroinechic · 31/05/2025 23:45

@wobblybrain you reported your neighbours to social services over a bit of weed?

CountryQueen · 31/05/2025 23:52

Why so pass agg with all the comments? I wouldn’t do any faux “what’s that smell Ron?” shit.

Just stick your head over the fence or knock on the door and say Liam, your smelly spliffs are disgusting so don’t smoke near my house

Yes, yes I did.

Sayithowiseeit · 31/05/2025 23:57

I'd suggest somewhere for him to smoke it. A discreet chat usually works

Wow what was you trying to achieve from this

Yes, this. Just go out and tell him that the smell is drifting in your house and can they smoke it somewhere else as it is causing you a bother, just like you might if the neighbours were doing any other anti-social things (playing loud music, lighting a fire in their garden every day, screaming and shouting at unsociable hours, parking over your drive and the list goes on). No need for strong arm tactics here, the police won't be interested, the parents might not be interested either. If they are sensible, they will do it elsewhere. Always worth a first chat before you get mad and invoke the second level of defence. x

Please make sure to throw an empty plastic bottle over with the bucket.

Intervention/support for the family, better living standards for the 7 children, need I go on?

I don’t know where the quoted post went - it said weed smokers were gutter trash and she’d throw a bucket of water at them.

HelpMeGetThrough · 01/06/2025 05:37

I’d be going around there!!!

And did it achieve that or where they to busy trying to protect the children who are beaten and sa on a daily basis

MrsSkylerWhite · 01/06/2025 07:27

If you have decent relations with his parents, text them.

Can’t stand the smell but it’s bloody everywhere now.

ChocolateGanache · 01/06/2025 07:32

Why wouldn’t you tell his parents?

Don't grass them up its a few day either say something to them or shut your door

LlynTegid · 01/06/2025 07:36

You should care, much as I agree speaking to him should be the first thing. Presumably you are happy to have people murdered (such as young black men or Mexicans) given the illegal drugs trade, happy to support criminal activity, and would you want someone under the influence of drugs behind the wheel?

feelingbleh · 01/06/2025 07:24

No, it achieved absolutely nothing. Let’s not pretend these children are not at risk though. They live in a cesspit where they are spoken to like they are animals. They have had social work intervention in the past and even had 2 of the children removed 10 or so years ago, temporarily. The kids live in a toxic environment and are very badly treated. The drugs are the tip of a very big iceberg, but I mentioned it for the same reasons you seem to think I shouldn’t have reported them - an example of SS doing nothing for children in devastating circumstances. My own life has been affected badly by them, imagine having a house where you can’t use one of your bedrooms due to the stench of weed. My mental health has had a set back several times due to their behaviours, they are not nice people. If that’s how awful the smell is in my house I can’t imagine what those children are breathing in. They have a garden covered in dog shit, they leave their dogs for up to 12 hours a day barking in the house, they have several un neutered cats roaming about and have had several litters of kittens. So yes I absolutely did report to SS, but sadly they didn’t help at all. The council won’t help, they’re give zero fucks about the vast majority of issues I have reported about these neighbours and the police had little interest when the guy was dealing for a while a few years back.

but yes, in the problem here Hmm

“Grass them up”. Are you 12?

I would absolutely have wanted to know if our kids had been smoking the godawful stuff.

salmonwithwasabi · 11/12/2025 02:17

Communicate with the kids first, if they still, endure it or anonymously report it
