Expanding body and shrinking clothes

Two summers ago I was a size 14. Last summer a size 16. This summer I'm an 18 and nothing fits. I have loads of lovely clothes I can't wear.

I'm doing something about it, but it's very slow.

I'll have to either stay in bed for the next 2 months or walk around naked.

Officially fed up.

Anyone else?

You deserve to feel nice while you’re on your journey. Can you get a few things that are meant to be oversized, like floaty dresses, harem pants, etc, so you can still wear them when you’re happier with your size? Vinted might be a good shout if you don’t want to spend a lot.

And some nice exercise gear so that getting fitter feels like a treat?

@idolikealiein

I pretty much could’ve written this post OP. I was a size 14 3 years ago with lots of lovely Summer clothing to wear, then the following summer became a size 16, and last year I was a size 18-20. I feel your pain.

Since January I have lost some weight and I’m now a size 16 again, but I don’t really have many clothes to wear. I bought a few things over the last couple of Summers but they were bought in desperation and aren’t completely my style and I feel frumpy in them. I don’t want to spend much money on clothes as I’m determined to lose more weight, but I have bought a few things as I don’t think I’ll get into my size 14’s this Summer.

I don’t know if you have a ‘Choice’ shop selling ex-Next clothing near you, but I managed to buy a lovely linen dress in there a couple of weeks ago for £15 and also a pair of linen trousers for £12. I’ve bought a couple of square neck tshirts in M&S for £8 each I think.

I’ve also just bought 2 pure cotton dresses in H&M in their sale - one for around £15 and the other for £28.

I am in peri and suddenly can no longer lose weight. I always put half a stone on at Christmas, holidays, etc and just eat sensibly for a few weeks and it comes off but that doesn't work any more so now I'm a stone overweight with a holiday in a few weeks.

I do intend to do something about it, but in the meantime I've bought myself some new summer clothes. Linen trousers, wide leg jeans, a maxi, a few t shirts and a couple of cotton jumpers. The trousers and dress via vinted so I didn't send a fortune.

I'm not happy with my body but at least I feel decent and willing to leave the house. So I'd say get on vinted and buy a few key summer pieces.

I was the same, but I have gone the other way. I was an 18 after my last (4th) child was born and for a couple of years after. I lost some weight and am now about a 14. I'm telling you that, not to gloat, but for inspiration! It wasn't even very hard. I just did intermittent fasting, but ate as normal in my eating window.

I agree with the pp above. Buy some clothes you love, but pieces that you'll still be able to wear after weight loss. For example, I love maxi skirts. They're often elasticated or part elasticated waists, and fit me at all the sizes I've been. My dresses that are a bit loose now, I wear with a belt to give shape. And a couple of jumpsuits are looser now, but I still love them. My t shirts just look better now I don't look or feel as bloated round the middle. So get out and get some lovely clothes, enjoy them, and love yourself whilst you're making a few small changes to increase your health!
