Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just finishing my first cuppa of the day, in my kitchen spot. Mountaineer cat woke me at 6am, so I kicked him out & he came back to bed 🤣. He's just been for another cuddle & now wandered off, probably back to bed again. Girl cat's in the living room window watching the people on the street.

The girls are the only ones with anything much planned today I think. They're taking my card & going for father's day cards and a gift. They were coming with me to my appointment, yesterday, then we were stopping off on the way home but neither of them got up. They'll more than likely wander elsewhere too, and get lunch together in town before heading back.

I've got some peg dolls to add details to, and then varnish. So that's what I'll be doing. I need to order a Tesco delivery too, nip to Lidl for something for tonight's tea, and see if my dad's free to nip for cat litter. If I get round to it, I'll list some more things on Vinted.

Later on, it'll be showers all round, then I'll carry on with the crochet yeti. I'm not sure he'll be finished by Monday - we'll see!

What about all of you? 🙂

@RabbitsRock what festival are dd and her friend going to? Dd1's off to Lido in a couple of weeks with a friend, & we're very seriously considering Transmt for the Saturday main stage lineup 🎶

Good morning @lucysmam and the Saturday crew.

@Rainbow1235 - I am sorry for the loss of your DF. It’s never easy. Even when it’s a release in a way.

I have been up since around 7. Did all my puzzles with a cuppa and then went out for a walk. Feeling quite chuffed with myself as I promise it regularly but never actually do it. Put a load of laundry on before I went and it’s now all hung out in the sunshine. Had a green smoothie for breakfast. I’m still on liquids/soft foods after dental surgery.

DH is out of action as hurt his knee badly about ten days ago. So I’m chief cook, bottle washer and gardener. I have a short attention span when it comes to the garden (and most things!) so I have been doing bits through the week. I’m about to attempt to finish the pressure washing of the patio that DH started a few weeks ago. And I have someone booked to come on Monday to do some of the heavy cutting back etc. that I’m just not going to do. We have a large garden so it’s a big task.

This afternoon I have a facial booked and then a quick nip to the supermarket to stock up on some bits and pieces and get something for dinner. I’m thinking fresh ravioli or similar as I can eat it.

And after procrastinating for ages I have booked myself on a six week pottery course this morning.

RabbitsRock · 31/05/2025 11:02

@lucysmam they’re seeing Charlixcx at Lido on the Saturday. DH & I are driving them up which means a VERY early start. Not sure how we will spend the day as I’m armless lol 🤣 DH managed to book private street parking about 15 mins walk away.

lucysmam · 31/05/2025 11:11

That's who dd and her friend are going for! She has an exceptionally early coach booked to get there. I have severe FOMO because my gig buddy's going without me (I don't even really like Charlie XCX).

Morning all and my condolences Rainbow1235 💐

I've got a second load of washing on. I popped to the local shop to collect a parcel for DH's upcoming birthday and stock up on ice creams 😋 On the way to the shop I saw a group of ladies knocking on doors, presumably JW's? After I got back they knocked on my door and I did feel a bit bad for not answering but I wasn't going to engage so there was no point really.

DH is out all day with a bunch of lads to celebrate one of his best mates who died last year. They all used to play football together and hadn't caught up for years so they've decided to have regular get-togethers and this is the first 💜

Apart from more washing (been a bit lax this week), I'm heading into the garden to read. And eat ice cream.

Ooh how exciting about the pottery course! I'm torn. I'd love to do it but I actually can't bear to get my hands dirty so I don't think it's for me.

Please show us your progress 😊

Good afternoon everyone, it’s sunny here at the moment but chilly when it clouds over.
We took the dogs for a decent walk first thing, it was really warm in places so I was glad I’d taken water for them.
The washing is drying nicely on the line and I’m going to spend the afternoon in my Shed, listening to podcasts and crocheting. I expect ZDog2 will join me and spend the afternoon snoring gently on her cool pad 😊
ZDog1 will only join me if there’s any shooting at the clay pigeon club.

I’m sorry to hear about your father @Rainbow1235 , I lost my parents within three months of each other, I wish that settling their affairs had been straightforward . It would have made things far less stressful thanks to my incredibly greedy sister
Enjoy your weekend if you can 🤗

lucysmam · 31/05/2025 13:28

Aaarrrrgghh! Tissue in a pocket holding up my washing 🙄

I'm being productive though - I've designed a replica bank note for a gig we're going to, and am adding details to my peg dolls. Not quite sure what the wombat one will turn out like...I suspect beaver at the moment 🤣

Just popped bak to say Thsnku so much for your lovely msgs regarding my dad . He was amazing in every way . Thsnku ❤️

Peridot1 · 31/05/2025 13:51

@CharlotteStreetW1 - I’m a bit apprehensive as I’m not particularly creative. Or patient! But I have been inspired by a friend in Australia who has been doing it for a while now and loves it and has made some lovely things. Course starts on 10th of June. I think 6 weeks will be enough time to gauge whether I like it and am likely to be able to produce anything decent!

daffodilandtulip · 31/05/2025 13:58

Oh I've missed the morning! I've been on leave this week and the weather has been miserable. It was sunny when I woke up so I took coffee into the garden and finished a good book that I've enjoyed with my week off. Son has gone to see his dad and daughter is back from uni next week so this is the last quiet day for a looong time!

But now I'm lost as I don't know which book to start next 😂. I've also decided I want to start something crafty, fancy a change but I don't know what to go for. Going to have a mooch on the internet for some ideas.

Not a BGT fan and there's nothing much else on so might binge watch one of the BBC dramas tonight. Treating myself to a Marks' ready meal for tea since I have no one to cook for.

ElliotNess · 31/05/2025 18:47

@PearlsPearl Of course, how remiss of me! This is the new boy. He’s a lovely, chatty fellow.

@DilemmaDelilah i have the same problem! Currently have a small mountain of bagged and boxed items in the hall ostensibly for charity shops but I can’t seem to move them on🫣

I've just used Anglo doorstep collections, who collect for charities.
You arrange a collection online. Then the evening before they give you a 2 hour slot and you can live track on the day to see where they are. You can either wait in or just put the stuff outside and they collect.
Much easier than taking to charity shop and because you have a date it made me collect up lots of stuff.
