Dd3 announced in bed last night she couldn’t sleep because her bottom was itchy. Never mentioned it before.
I couldn’t see anything but put some cream on incase. I wondered if it was where she had done extra poos yesterday and her bottom was sore from wiping.
She woke up today and it was the first thing she said to me again. I checked and again couldn’t see any worms but put her in the bath and have stripped and washed all her bedding. She wears a pull up in bed so hopefully nothing on the bedding anyway. 🤞🏼

I know what the worms look like but what do the eggs look like in terms of size and colour etc. Is there likely to be eggs with no sign of actual worms?

the local pharmacy opens at 8am so we’ve already been and bought liquid ovex. We’ve all taken a dose. The pharmacist said wash her bedding and all towels and underwear etc on a hot wash which I’ve started to do this morning.

What are the chances of her having worms without signs of actual worms? When in the cycle does the itching start? Hoping we have caught it early if it is worms ahe hasn’t mentioned anything before last night.

I’ve read that some people wash bedding etc daily for weeks. Do we need to do that.

All other tips welcome!!

Ovex treatment for the whole family, and a repeat in about 2-3 weeks time.

Wash bedding and underwear, pj's, maybe towels. Treat everyone with ovex now and after two weeks. No need to do more than that.

The eggs are microscopic so you wont see them.
The nhs website has very clear information and guidance on dealing with threadworms.
Once dc go to nursery they get threadworms regularly. Especially if they are thumb suckers or nose pickers.
The eggs are in the play dough, the sand pit. Everywhere.
You just have to persevere with teaching good hygiene and leeping worming treatments in stock.
You might as well read up on headlice too. Best to be prepared.

You can all easily reinfect very rapidly, even having taken ovex.
The real key is handwashing. Upon waking as her hands will probably have been near her bum. And assiduously before food and around the bathroom.
if you want to see the worms, the most likely time will be middle of the night and go and shine a flash light on her sleeping bum. They come out and wiggle around the bum area.

Nothing is showing in her poo at all. Could that mean she doesn’t have them? Would they be in every poo?

Depends how heavy the infestation is.

You've caught it early at the first sign of itching so shouldn't be too bad

You might notice them in her poo over the next few days after the ovex as the dead ones come out.

Hi @Caterpillarmama - did the ovex work? How long did it take for her itching to stop? Just taken the meds in our house today

Yes it did! It took a couple of days before she stopped mentioning the itch. I gave her a second dose 2 weeks later too.
