What type of documents are they?

CopperWhite · 29/05/2025 15:53

Get ChatGPT to do it for you

Tripadvisor101 · 29/05/2025 15:53

Why can't a solicitor do it?

CreationNat1on · 29/05/2025 15:53

Google procurement checklist for clauses you need to consider when comparing and contrasting x services/service providers or ask chatgbt for a list of the above considerations?

Prepare a matrix, cut and paste the relevant important clauses into it and ask chat gbt to critically assess them from the purchasers point of view.

Thank you, sillkie question but his do I get it into chat gbt?

If using the app then hit the “+” symbol underneath where you write the prompt and select “document”. Select the files. It will upload and you can ask it to compare the elements of the documents you want it to compare. The clearer and more detailed the prompt the better.

Be careful, if this is for your work using chatGPT is not a good idea for confidentiality reasons, unless your company has said it’s fine. We’re not allowed to use chatGpT for anything work related.

But if it’s personal e.g. your own house, carry on!

Does your solicitor say they can't help as they are not a property law specialist? Are they commercial leases (i.e business property) or residential? Depending on what you're trying to achieve and what sort of leases they are you might need a property lawyer or a Chartered Surveyor specialising in business leases.

Chickensilkie · 29/05/2025 19:01

@BathTangle I don't have one.
I should be able to do it myself I just have a massive aversion to it il, it's causing me great stress.

Are you comparing two Word documents to see what the differences are? If so you can use Review>Compare in Word. If they're pdfs and you have Adobe Acrobat (not just Reader) you can convert to Word using the Export tool then run a comparison in Word as above.

MissMoneyFairy · 29/05/2025 19:08

What sort of lease is it and what do you need to compare it with

Needtosoundoffandbreathe · 29/05/2025 19:10

If they're protected pdfs then print to pdf, then Export to Word and do a comparison. I work in in-house legal and governance and my pet hate is documents I have to review which are protected so you can't mark them up.

Chickensilkie · 29/05/2025 19:32

It's a lease from an agency and one I already had

whatflite · 29/05/2025 19:34

Are the documents both in word format? If you open them in separate windows there is a compare function

Littlemunchkinsmummy · 29/05/2025 19:38

@whatflite said, or convert the documents to word format then compare.
A solicitor should definitely be able to do it if you pay them 🤷‍♀️

MiracleCures · 29/05/2025 19:51

What are you leasing? I always find it mind boggling people will scrimp on legal costs for this

Unless it's just an AST?

Chickensilkie · 29/05/2025 21:16

@MiracleCures when I look at the money I spent before my boggled mind did try and go it alone

But depending on the levels of risk involved it's usually money well worth spending.

You can always shop around for a quote but certainly if it is a commercial lease it's incredibly silly not to get at least basic legal advice

Are these domestic Tenancy agreeements?
