I don't know what to make of the fort Bragg footage. Aside from sounding as though it has been dubbed with canned laughter and booing, the troops stood behind him are a disgrace.
Their berets are all over the place, the uniforms creased to hell and they just look like a bag of shite. Where is their pride and discipline? Any self respecting sergeant major would self combust surely, they are a disgrace.

Oh god I'm glad someone else thought this. I thought it might be me not understanding US culture but I was finding it hard to believe they were real troops the way they were behaving. They looked like rent-a-mob, I even wondered if they were! Weird.

Only seen clips of the Fort Bragg speech - but I agree, it felt slightly off kilter like the soldiers were extras in a film. But maybe it's because Drumpf used the event as yet another political rally to air his grievances. Bringing the armed forces into your paranoid, narcissistic, cruel universe is the final step isn't it?

NEW: The Trump admin has plans to send thousands of foreigners to Guantanamo beginning as early as this week, including citizens of close allies UK & France, with no intention of notifying their home governments in advance, per sources and documents.

The preparations include medical screenings for 9,000 people to determine if they are healthy enough to be sent to the controversial base in the Caribbean. DHS intends to minimize the amount of time detainees are in Gitmo but the WH could decide to use it for longterm detention.

The Trump admin says the plan is necessary due to a need to free up capacity at domestic detention facilities which have been flooded with new detainees. A US doc says “GTMO is not at capacity" (tho it has been plagued by capacity issues in the past). Props to

To be honest I found Hegseth more troubling than the Donald (who was just doing the usual nonsensical wittering….. for example did anyone know we nearly all spoke Japanese after WW1…. Nope me neither).

Hegseth, for all I can’t stomach the man, clearly has charisma and I can absolutely see how he speaks to the toxic masculinity that’s so clearly on display in the US at the moment. I found his constant references to war fighters quite nauseating. Little to no reference to defence and public service, it was all about being on the attack.

Like extras in a film is a good way of putting it. As if they were acting a part on instructions rather than spontaneously being themselves. It was very weird.
Is it possible they were told to cheer, told to be on Trump's side etc? Surely there are troops who don't support him? Were they cherry picked? The more I think about it the weirder it was.

Lone Skum in the last hour has just posted a very, very low key post on X saying he regrets his posts from last week criticising Cheeto Corleone. He says he went too far.
