Wimbledon logistics

We were lucky to get ballot tickets. I don’t know London at all really.
I’ve provisionally booked accommodation near Westminster but there are Premier Inns etc available in Wimbledon. There’s no where specific we really want to see site wise, when I book definitive accommodation I’ll look at maybe a show or something but are we better staying centrally or more towards the Tennis?
any suggestions on where to stay would be appreciated then I can look at booking flights.
thanks

I'd stay in Battersea- you'd be almost exactly halfway between Westminster and Wimbledon (easy travel both ways)

Westminster is very central. You can get to Victoria easily, train to Clapham Junction and change for Wimbledon. There is a shuttle bus to the tennis or 20 minute walk. Wimbledon itself is a nice area especially the Village between station and tennis.

If you’re just coming for the tennis, I’d stay in Wimbledon. Tennis traffic is awful, being in walking distance is so much less stressful.

Wimbledon station is 20 minutes in to Waterloo, which is a short walk along the river and over Westminster bridge from Westminster, if you do want to visit central London.

There have been a few new hotels built in Wimbledon over the last few years. I'd stay in Wimbledon. There's a new Travelodge on Hartfield Road. You'd be able to walk to the tennis in 20 minutes or catch the 93 bus to the Village.
Wimbledon is on the District Line and overground is 15 minutes to Waterloo.

Wimbledon has a fantastic atmosphere during the tennis weeks! It should be noted that the tennis courts are a good walk from the Village and an uphill (then downhill) hike from the main station, but there are shuttle buses from there.
I’d stay in Wimbledon Village at one of the pubs - the Rose & Crown is nice, but it’s probably too late to book now. The chain hotels down in the town centre are as you would expect but all the action is up at the Village. As stated quick train to Waterloo or District line to other areas if wanting to go in to central London.

Thanks to all for their suggestions. It’s great to have so much choice. Am genuinely so grateful (and so excited for just a few nights away)
@xmasdealhunter I love the idea of Battersea, I’ve never been, I see there are lots of running routes about there, places to eat etc so I am very drawn towards this.
Now I need to find me an outfit for the day, book some flights and we are good to go.

The walk from the station to the Championships is very do-able, or there is the bus, or there is an organised taxi-share where each person pays a set amount. It's downhill on the way back so that's easier :)

I’m staying at the premier inn in Wimbledon during Wimbledon fortnight. Managed to get ballot tickets! I have no idea how close we are to the courts and if it’s an easy route to walk.
Got bamboozled by places to stay and the cost! That’s to be expected though, I suppose. Does anyone know what the premier inn is like there? Any info would be SO appreciated. Thank you xx

I used to work in Wimbledon and it does get crazily busy there. Not all the tennis action takes place in the village though, there are a few pubs in the town which show televised matches and they’re always packed. Wimbledon Park and I think Southfields are nearest tubes though there are regular buses to the courts from the town centre.

I’d stay in Wimbledon. There are lots of cheaper hotels and some houses rent out their homes/rooms if you fancy that. You can easily run on the common or through the town too.

There are tons of places to eat in Wimbledon village and the town. If you fancy a change Raynes Park is nearby and so is Kingston which is on the river. Kingston is good for shopping. Wimbledon has a few shops and Elys department store. Shops are lovely in the village.

Iirc it is near the station so you could take the shuttle bus from there or a 20 minute walk

The walk is up a very steep hill to the village though. If that’s the way she’s going to the courts. There are buses which go up the hill though.

I recall one year when I went I’d forgotten a hat so luckily bought one in the H&M in Centre Court shopping centre before we set off to the courts.
