Sudden nightmares/hallucinations/insomnia

Help! The whole family (DH and I and two DCs) has been suffering for a few nights

It started with DS (6) having a few night terror type episodes one evening, being distressed and sort of not seeing//hearing us when we try to comfort him.

The same night, DH and I had awful nightmares (unusual for both of us to even remember our dreams but these were really vivid)

Last night DD (3) who's usually a great sleeper woke up very distressed talking about a man with dark hair dying - a bit intense!

Tonight I've been up with both of them for nearly 3 hours. They keep falling asleep but waking with a startle. DD suddenly started screaming earlier, jumping up from her bed and screaming "Worms!" then pointing at the ceiling and shouting "Dinosaurs! "

Any ideas? I'm getting quite concerned and very exhausted

I don’t know if this is a reputable source, but it can’t do any harm to get/check a carbon monoxide monitor and open some windows.

I was also going to suggest carbon monoxide - it's worth getting this checked, especially if you've had any other symptoms- flu type symptoms / irritability or mood changes, headache or feeling sick.

This happened to a neighbour who had a faulty boiler. Get your house checked for carbon monoxide.

Thanks, I am going to get this checked today. DS has had a headache and feeling sick too, the rest of us haven't.

Initially when DS started with it I thought it was a virus as he can get slight night fevers with them and is prone to some odd behaviours when that happens, but we really don't have any virus symptoms. We also wouldn't all have it at the same time, it usually takes a few days for a virus to pass from one person to the next in the house.

I also wondered if it might be threadworms but it might be far fetched.
