Is this travel charge unreasonable? Straw poll

Putting this here because AIBU scares me! I've received an invoice for some ongoing works to my property - think along the lines of an architect who makes occasional site visits - and I'm a bit annoyed about the travel costs.

I was sent a proposal that broke down the estimate and made clear travel costs would be in addition to this, and that travel by car to and from site was calculated at 60p per mile plus VAT. Their office is under 10 miles from me so I was expecting to pay around £12 plus VAT (in addition to the fixed £250 site visit fee). However, I have instead been invoiced £70 for two taxi journeys (with VAT to be paid on top - so £84!).

I've looked at the T&Cs where there's no mention of taxis or other modes of transport, only car travel and mileage costs, but also talks about 'reasonable expenses' which are of course undefined.

So, is this a reasonable expense? Would you challenge it? It feels a bit silly to be so annoyed as the cost is small compared to what I'm paying them overall, but I feel a bit ripped off somehow.

I would be asking them for the receipts for a start

Yes, I probably should. We are also just a few minutes walk from a train station that goes from a central station next to their office - a return journey that costs around £6 and would likely be quicker.
