Dropped kerb for disability - any experience?

DP has a terminal degenerative neurological disease and will soon need a wheelchair. We don’t have a driveway, just a path from the door to a pavement that goes across the front of the house (hedges/fences along the side of the pavement). The pavement is quite narrow so I don’t think turning and going along the path to the next dropped curve (3 doors down) will be feasible (he has already tried this in a borrowed mini mobility scooter - it was right on the edge of the pavement and the turn was tricky).

Can you get dropped kerbs for wheelchair access only? Everything I can find suggests wide car sized lengths. I also can’t find anything about disability and dropped kerbs - AI suggests that if your Occ therapist confirms your disability there is a route through some of the paperwork , but everything on our local council pages is about wanting a dropped kerb for a driveway (and of course there is no phone number to ring).

any advice or experience appreciated

As someone who has worked in district nursing and also needed home modifications I've found it depends on your local council.
I would start with a request for an occupational therapy home assessment and they may be able to apply for you (or if not point you in the right direction). Of the three councils I've had dealings with personally/professionally I've known two do this with referal.
