I am going to Italy in October and really want to look elegant and well put together. I heard monochrome outfits are way to go.

I normally wear loud t shirts, neon and bright colours. I dont think this is way to go. Got rid of most of it recently.

What do you recommend? Im size 14 and 5'4.

No neon!
Simple jewellery but no more than two pieces
Simple leather sandals
Minimal make up
Linen or cotton
Good sunglasses
Simple hairstyle
No sunburn
No tattoos ever
Don’t drink too much alcohol because it’s not a good idea with the heat

Insomma, don’t look like an Englishwoman on holiday! Divertiti bene!

Get yourself over to the Style and Beauty board ,,- you'll get loads of good suggestions there

I'm the same height, age and weight as you op....last year I bought a couple of linen shift dresses...one in navy and one in white. They are very easy to wear and I think they look good.

Well you’re screwed if you’ve got tattoos then according to those rules.

OP I went to Florence in October and I did take what I suppose was a capsule wardrobe of navy and chocolate and black clothing that I considered chic ( for me) but I did feel a tad drab and ended up buying a red sweater when I was there ( it was cool in the evenings). Some items I had already like indigo jeans from Hiut and a navy seersucker lightweight blazer ( Cos) for travel. I bought some chocolate brown silk trousers from Rise & Fall and 2 boxy t shirts - one in a matching brown and one in a navy. Already had a black silk t shirt and a black T shirt dress from Cos which worked for evening & daytime. I think the other item was a long cream seeesucker ( crinkle) skirt from Arket. So lots of mix & match options. I wore cream Teva Hurricanes in the day and gold Tevas for night although I did have trainers too. I had one tote for day and a small leopard crossbody for evening. I’m not boring you with all this because I think you should copy this but it gives an idea of the range of clothes you might consider. I think if you love colour then you should take colour. My friend took dresses or many hues which is entirely her style. You could pick 3 complimentary colours and keep your items within that palette but it doesn’t mean you have to wear neutrals. The brand Tibi does a colour wheel that’s quite interesting and they do incorporate colour sometimes against sludgy neutrals …. It’s a sophisticated modern way to wear colour. You can find an explanation or Tibis colour mixing online but here are a couple of images.
