Go get a blood test....

Said by my friend when I met her this morning.

I ran a marathon in early March, did really well and was thrilled with my time, but I left it all out there and haven't really been right since.

I expected to need some recovery time, but I had a nasty (horrible) cold that developed into sinusitis and lasted c. 6 weeks, I've had styes and still feel generally wiped out.

Friend gave this advice because I met her for a short run this morning and felt unable to even attempt it. I've slept most of the day.

I don't think you can just walk into the doctors and ask for "a blood test" though, and if I go to GP won't they just say it's post marathon and/or post viral fatigue?

Well, you go to the GP and explain that this level of tiredness and recurrent illness is not normal for you. The GP will take it from there, but almost certainly will do some bloods. They certainly won't mind.

I think your fellow marathon runner friend is right.
Just make an appointment with your GP for the sinusitis you've had for 6 weeks and of course mention the styes, also a symptom of being run down. You may call it post-runners fatigue but runners don't typically get fatigued so much that they fall prey to nasty long-lasting infections.
Even if they did, and even if it is the downside of putting your all into a physical event, you still need help.
You say yourself that you haven't felt the same since.
Pretty sure your GP will requisition a blood test as one of the first things they do.
Hope you feel better soon OP.

Tired All The Time is a definite thing GPs recognise. They'll order tests and (usually) find the person is deficient in Vit D and/or iron. Worth getting checked out.

It's sensible advice, and you can also get at home blood tests for around £50 that test a range of vitamins etc. So definitely more possible than you think!
