German goodies that you can’t easily buy in the UK

We are taking the car to Germany soon and a friend, who lived in Germany for a while asked woukd I bring her back a bar of Milka if I saw it as she can rarely find it here.
i asked if there was anything else, but ahe said ahe didn’t want to take any more room in our car, even though I insisted it wasn’t a problem.

It is her birthday soon after we get back and we always exchange gifts - although it’s becoming increasingly difficult to think of ideas. It struck me I could make a little hamper of German goodies.
I will have a wander around a German supermarket but to save me having to search through aisles of stuff you can buy everywhere, it woukd be useful to have some specifics to look for.
So if you have spent time in Germany and are now living elsewhere, what are the things you miss and can’t easily find outside Germany? (I know meanwhile you can get everything online but I’m quite taken with my hamper idea so humour me please! )
Thank you

Proper paprika flavoured crisps. Practically impossible to find in the UK, I'm always on the look out and haven't found any in well over a decade

If you are going near Cologne, Kolsch beer is delicious - light, fizzy and refreshing. Fruh and St Peters are good brands.

Not sure - but why is she after Milka when it’s everywhere here now?

Also Milka has changed over the past 5 years or so. It was always my little treat when we went on holiday to mainland Europe but then the recipe changed and it's now nothing special at all 😭

Mezzo Mix fizzy drink

Hanuta is one of the few things I can't get outside Germany. I also like the salad oil mixes

My DC visit their German grandparents every year, but to be honest they mainly fall ravenously on all the cakes and dairy and ice cream rather than stuff that you could transport easily.

Things they do like which would travel (which your friend may be far too sophisticated for anyway) are tubes of ketchup and mayonnaise - it comes out striped red and white! Curry ketchup for making Currywurst, they are fussy about brand but I can’t remember the name, Waldmeister jelly cubes, powdered ice cream that you make up with milk, rose hip jam, Spezi (like Mezzo Mix above Cola mixed with Orangeade, but they prefer the Spezi brand). Erdnuss Flips which are like peanut crispy snacks. They also like non-mint toothpaste, lemon or pink grapefruit are the favourites.

Pumpkin seed oil.

Proper marzipan in the shape of pigs or hearts. Might be expensive though and lots of people don’t like marzipan.

Lots of ideas already, thank you so much. Not sure whether my friend didn’t realise you could get Milka here or doesn’t think it tastes the same. I’ll get her some anyway and pass on the info thank you

Lübecker Marzipan
Hanuta
Milchschnitte

I also really like German soft drinks, especially Rhabarberschorle

I’m reliably informed that Hela is my dc brand of choice for curry ketchup.
And just thought of something I like - Apfel Balsamico for salad dressing.

I also see Milka in Polish/European supermarkets here. You could get her a bar of UK-bought Milka and a 'German' one and she could compare.

I was thinking exactly tbat until I read a comment that it had changed. But I think I will do it anyway.

In the past Milka definitely used to taste markedly different when bought in the UK vs Germany, and different again in Switzerland.
Don‘t know if it’s changed, haven’t tried any in a long time.
