Book recommendation

Hyacinth1000 · 22/05/2025 01:21

Just been reading another book recommendation thread and decided that they were all a bit too heavy for me. I’m an intelligent woman but I like my books to be soooo easy to read. I like Sophie Kinsella, Tracy Bloom, Jill Mansell etc.
So does anyone have any recommendations for a romcom author/book that I might not have considered. Must be set in current time, not historical or future. Thank you

Do you like crime books? I have been reading Cara Hunter the DI Adam Fawley series and they are really easy reads

Last one at the party - so good and easy, funny a little bit scary due to wider context but super easy

I don’t read crime books but do like crime series on tv so maybe I ought to give them a go

Sally Page books are easy to read, they aren’t exactly rom coms although there are elements of romance. Usually woman changing her life/job and finding a new focus.

Lucy Clarke books are good, elements of mystery/thriller

LoafofSellotape · 22/05/2025 08:52

Lisa Jewell books are easy to read but good stories.

Marian Keyes is great, really funny and easy to read

Sunsetsandcocktails · 22/05/2025 09:21

Marian Keyes is the best for this!

WearyLady · 22/05/2025 09:48

If you want an easy read then Liane Moriarty is good. I’d recommend The Husband’s Secret in particular.

Lee Child. Honestly, the Reacher books are brilliant and soooo easy to read. You just kind of fall into them.
Maeve Binchy, Jojo Moyes?

Hyacinth1000 · 22/05/2025 11:40

Love Marian Keyes but I think I’ve read them all

Lucy Diamond and Veronica Henry are both good.

TheFairyCaravan · 22/05/2025 11:46

Milly Johnson is good, as is Veronica Henry.

In no particular order: Lee Child (thriller - Reacher); JD Robb (romantic crime); SR Garrae (romantic crime); Jodi Taylor (very British insanity set slightly in the future). Lots of others, too, but those are top of the easy but decent reading list.

Tinseltrauma · 22/05/2025 11:57

Mhairi McFarlane is very good. I’ve also recently enjoyed Stepping Up by Sarah Turner and also her second book whose name escapes me!

Millie Johnson is great. I bought 8 of hers from World of Books.

ringsnthings · 22/05/2025 12:55

Lulu Taylor's are very good, too. Usually set in winter!
