Incontinence issues, advice needed.

I am looking for information on what would be available to a person who is doubly incontinent at night. What products would be best to use, where would they get them? Is there medication that can help? Services?

This is not for me rather soneone I am supporting, but this is outside of my remit.

Unfortunately it does appear that "lifestyle" is not helping the situation, but really I want to help deal with the daily , or rather nightly, issues.

perhaps look on sites like the Tena make of incontinence items
I would suggest pads and a mat on the bed just in case
I have heard of sometimes special nurses who would help with continence issues I am thinking from the local GP surgery it would be worth a visit to the persons GP I think

The GP can refer to the continence team. They will make an assessment and be able to prescribe product.

Is there a continence team they can contact? Maybe through GP.
My mum uses these ID expert ones

Also use a waterproof mattress protector and a drawsheet type thing and maybe even puppy pads to save having to change the whole bed

Thank you. There us an incontinence team, unfortunately the person is not great at engaging with support.

Also, would they get products on prescription or would they have to buy them?

The ID ones are what the continence team provide for my mum but she has to buy the super extra absorbency from amazon as well as they don't provide those ones

dementedpixie · 21/05/2025 09:58

I'm in Scotland and the continence team does provide some but not to the level of absorbency she needs overnight

OK that's helpful thank you. The person does get enhanced rate of pip so should be able to buy the products necessary.
