What is happening? Never in recent weeksliving memory has such a thing happened. Is it the end times?

I know!! Although I cannot wait for the British classic:

”At least the plants / garden will be happy!”
”the plants needed it though didn’t they?”

haha!

Raining here too.

The garden doesn’t need it. Means the grass I mowed and the hedge I cut at the weekend will bloody grow again!!!

If this continues today, tomorrow we’ll have people saying what an awful Spring it’s been and where’s the nice weather 😁

Absolutely they will. And claiming there hasn't been a day where it's not been wet and grey since 2020.

LavenderBlue19 · 21/05/2025 07:39

No rain here yet, but I'm so looking forward to it I might go out and dance 😂 I've planted up a new border this year and I must have spent a fortune watering it.

Also really looking forward to the pavements having a wash, and the grass being green again. The park behind our house looks like a hot August, rather than May.

ExpressiveDelivery · 21/05/2025 07:50

Hooray! It's started. Proper rain too, none of your useless drizzle.

IdiottoGoa · 21/05/2025 07:51

Where are you that it’s raining? It’s lovely here

Nominative · 21/05/2025 07:52

I feel like stealing from Robert Benchley when he visited Venice and sending a message out saying "Streets full of water. Please advise"

Anedina · 21/05/2025 07:54

Not here it's not, looks like Saturday should drop some though and next week looks quite wet, bad timing for BH and half term though. Probably will be lots of campers lulled into a false sense of security.

HarryVanderspeigle · 21/05/2025 07:55

There was a strange dripping noise outside when I woke up. It seems to have vanished now though, so I guess that's the apocalyptic averted.

Bjorkdidit · 21/05/2025 07:57

Well it's coming up to a bank holiday weekend, what do you expect?

No3392 · 21/05/2025 07:58

Not on my forecast, but I haven't looked outside!

No rain until Friday afternoon here

onwardandupwards · 21/05/2025 08:01

Sports day has been cancelled here due to rain last week it was cancelled due to the heat

RampantIvy · 21/05/2025 08:02

Where is it raining?
I'm in North East Scotland and the forecast is for wall to wall sunshine today.

London - by far the most likely place for the End Times to get under way. Grin Looks like drizzle at the moment. I have to go out later so confidently expect a deluge then.

However, I've just seen a swift, so all is well with the world. Every year I look out for them and every year it's later. Fingers crossed they can find places to nest and lots and lots of mosquitoes and other winged nuisances to eat before they set off on the long trek back to Africa in a few weeks.

My cats (who like the outdoors) are not impressed. They are looking at me as if it's my fault.

Doggymummar · 21/05/2025 08:03

It would be nice if it warmed up and I could turn my electric blanket off but it seems to be getting colder every year.

SudsySaturday · 21/05/2025 08:04

Pissing down here...it hasn't rained for weeks!

Ds2 (15) just wandered in holding his coat and looking bewildered and said 'so I think I have to wear this today?!?' 🤣

Looking at the met office map it’s just a bit in the south of England and wales. Most of the U.K. is still clear sun till the weekend when a band comes in from the west.

NewsdeskJC · 21/05/2025 08:13

That would be because I cleaned my walking boots yesterday ready to reproof them and left them in the garden last night due to my idiot brain.
They are nicely soaked through!

Holding off for the Bank Holiday and half-term! Grin

I wish! it is a bit grey here (Kent, seaside) but no rain.

It has been dry and warm for weeks it seems. I am spending my time watering the gardens & adding water to my small pond...

blobby10 · 21/05/2025 08:37

😂I could smell rain this morning when I walked the dog but checking on one of my many weather apps, the rain is only in the bottom half of England -stopping just short of my town. I think its due up here at the weekend!

mummytoonetryingfortwo · 21/05/2025 08:38

Absolutely gutted. This weather has been gorgeous, I hope everyone who was complaining is happy though!

ExpressiveDelivery · 21/05/2025 08:59

I wasn't complaining, although it has been a bit too hot some days (the humid ones) but I am glad to see it now because my allotment and garden are parched and water butts nearly empty. Hoping for a proper deluge.

LizzieSiddal · 21/05/2025 09:02

It’s wonderful isn’t it. Won’t have to water my veg today.
