Just looked in the punnet and there's six giant strawberries where I'd have expected at least double that. Just trying to upload a pic.

OP posts:

Thank you! I am just waiting to go home hopefully. Might stop at the garage for Strawberries 🍓.

Fingers crossed you pick up some whoppers!

2BrownDogs · 19/05/2025 22:16

Sainsburies punnets are going to be £1 in a few days.

Im hoping they are lovely and juicy.

Going to stock up my freezer.

I think ‘warning’ might be a step too far though - what are they warning us about?!

I read there's concern they won't fit in consumers mouths and i'm not joking ...

caffelattetogo · 20/05/2025 07:31

Ha! Do customers not know how to bite them? Imagine how they’ll cope with apples?

Missywelliot · 20/05/2025 07:36

M&S sometimes sell the giant strawberries (even in normal weather years).
They're like chomping on a small apple. Gorgeous.

OP if you take a pic, don't forget to use a banana for scale

Yes. And put an apple by the banana so we can gauge the size of the banana.

👍

We've got some freaky big grapes; mutant:-

I’d get some Anusol on those! 🙈

CalicoPusscat · 20/05/2025 08:23

I'm checking co-op this morning. I demand my right to see huge beasts of strawberries!

ZorbaTheHoarder · 20/05/2025 08:29

Looks good!

ZorbaTheHoarder · 20/05/2025 14:33

Meant to attach this!

I thought they were joking about giant strawberries
CalicoPusscat · 20/05/2025 14:43

@ZorbaTheHoarder bloody hell!!! That's bigger than me

uglysexy · 20/05/2025 15:02

I want a huge strawberry

I can fit a whole Rich Tea biscuit in my gob without breaking it, I wanna have a go on a strawberry😂

Biglumpycustard · 20/05/2025 15:05

Have you seen the giant watermelon’s £4.75 in Tesco

They wanted £3 for very ordinary strawbs last night, the buggers

GreenFressia · 20/05/2025 18:48

I survived my A&E trip (aforementioned) - had a sad moment when I stopped at the garage. It was shut. So no strawbs.

But went to waitrose today and found some!

Just had a watermelon, feta and strawb salad.

I thought they were joking about giant strawberries
PoodlesRUs · 20/05/2025 19:09

@GreenFressia thank you, I'm so pleased I finally got to see some giant strawberries even if not the OP's😂

They look lovely, but what did they taste like? what region were they from?

The Waitrose near us had some yesterday, they were large and British, but not from the area I normally prefer. I'm fed up with strawberries that just taste of nothing.

Cherrysoup · 20/05/2025 19:31

Mine are large, biting into them was a bit messy earlier!

CalicoPusscat · 20/05/2025 20:07

I remembered to check when I went into co-op earlier - they're large but I wouldn't say supersize.

I'm consoling myself with scones, strawberry jam and thick cream.

Its a pound coin or a football pitch surely?

Or Wales, I want to see strawberries the size of Wales.

user1471453601 · 20/05/2025 20:53

Our strawberry are much much larger and earlier than usual. Apparently it's the warm days and much cooler nights.

Picklechicken · 20/05/2025 21:02

The bbc had an article about this earlier, saying the weird weather had caused them to grow to epic proportions!
