Talk to me about water flossers!

Sorry it’s a dull one! I have quite bad gum disease and my dentist recommended a water flosser so I bought one. I can’t remember which brand, it’s not a water pik one though. I hate the feel of it. Do they all feel much the same or is it worth trying a different one to see if it’s better?

How do you hold something in your mouth without swallowing for 20 minutes?!

Did you get one op? Thoughts?

Apparently the home ones are much less efficient than interdental brushing/flossing.

You really need to be quite vigorous if you've got bad gum disease. Use chlorhexidine mouthwash and tp each tooth twice daily after brushing with electric brush. And go to hygienist regularly I think is the preferred way of managing it.

My dentist says they're not really a suitable alternative to the regular manual method, though better than nothing.

There’s consensus amongst the dentist community!

Cardgalore · 08/07/2025 17:13

NO consensus I meant!!
