Imagine losing out on a whole weekend, and just getting your fare back.

I suspect the upshot of this will be accessible tickets will be impossible to book. Easier to do that than fix the problem.

There is no such thing as an accessible ticket. Disabled people can get discounted fares, like many other groups, and book assistance through Passenger Assist or turn up at the station. They can’t and won’t change that but they might get better at meeting rerouted or delayed trains with appropriate assistance or get people onto the trains they have booked. It’s appalling that in this day and age disabled people are so disenfranchised by public transport inadequacies and it needs to change.
