How do washing machine dryers work

I want a washing machine dryer, all in one. I don’t have an outlet leading to the outside for a tumble dryer to go. Do I need to get a plumber to install it or will the company that I buy the machine from do it for me

My washer dryer didn't need a hose as it was a condenser dryer rather than a vented one

I’ve never had a washer dryer but I did used to have a vented tumble dryer so the principle is the same. Generally the company won’t do stuff like drill through a wall to put the hose out. If they offer installation check the small print - as it is generally just hooking the inlet and outlets to tap and drain point etc that are already in place behind a washing machine. (And you might be able to do that yourself quite easily)

If you have a handy window the hose can go out the window or as a pp mentions get a condenser type.

I have a condenser one, never had tumble dryer before so it jus replaced the old washing machine, nothing extra needed

Badly. Just used to make my clothes warm and wet.

I think most of them are condensers.
OP my condenser tumble dryer collects the water in a container at the bottom and I just empty it down the sink after every load. I wouldn’t faff about with a vented one after switching to condenser.

It’ll be a condenser, the waste water will go out the same pipe as the washing machine water does. So you won’t need to empty any container either.
DH installed ours I think, it wasn’t hard.

Yes mine's the same, the water from the clothes when the dryer is on goes into the drain pipe.

If you have space for a separate washing machine and tumble dryer then go for that if you can. Washer dryers have a smaller wash load capacity and the dryer function is often pretty poor.

The water from washing and drying functions will go into the same drain hose.
