Good Morning Everyone! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just finishing my first cuppa of the day, in my kitchen spot. The kittens have been fed & dd2's already been down for a chat! I've put the washer on for the first load so need to empty yesterday's out of the basket shortly so today's can go on the line.

I'm off out for cocktails and lunch for a friend's birthday today; am just looking for the motivation to hem the other leg of the trousers I want to wear 🙈. I had started them yesterday but then got called away & didn't sit down until almost 9pm. We're not meeting til this afternoon, so plenty of time to sort them.

I'll shower in a little while, & put on some make up/nice jewellery that's a bit dressier than usual.

Dd1's working later - she needs to get up & sorted soonish. She won't be finished until late - probably after I'm home and in bed.

Dd2's staying here with dad. She's having a bit of a rough time at the minute, & I did ask her if she wants me to stay but she said no. She's planning a slow day on the sofa with 9-1-1 & her homework. I can always come back early if she changes her mind.

What about all of you? 🙂

jings hope your now feel a bit better and thsnku for your kind wishes for dad means a lot to me 🫶

InglouriousBasterd · 17/05/2025 10:17

Morning all!

DD is still asleep, I’m drinking coffee in bed. I’ll move in a minute and strip the bed, get some washing on and start the cleaning. Off to the gym later then for a coffee and a read before picking up our Eurovision party food! It’s like my Christmas!

Peridot1 · 17/05/2025 10:26

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone.

Best of luck to all DCs doing exams and parents living through the stress.

@Rainbow1235 - I am sorry about your Dad. It’s never easy to face losing them.

I have been up ages as usual. First wash done and hung outside. It’s lovely and sunny but there is a really cold breeze. I wanted to go for a walk but might wait till it warms up a bit. So I’ve made another cuppa. Had breakfast of toasted brown soda bread a while ago. Dishwasher is emptied and reloaded. I need to give the kitchen surfaces a bit of a clean. And de-spider web the window frames. And strip and change a bed and wash bedding.

Dinner will be something spicy. Possibly Dan Dan Noodles. Not Eurovision fans here - well DH isn’t so we don’t watch. We will, probably catch up on Race Around the World. We are a bit behind as I’ve been away for two weeks.

Will also maybe make a start on taking some plants out of narrow beds along our patio as they are not really working there and I want to re do them.

Good morning, I promised I would paint out spare room today and now I really cannot be bothered.

Both the kids have swimming in about an hour, so after that we’ll likely stay in town and have lunch out. But we haven’t really made any plans for this weekend, so it will likely be a lazy one.

Simonjt I take it you'll be watching Eurovision tonight?

Morning all.

I'm just waiting for my second cup of tea to brew. Had a rude awakening this morning when a robin flew into my bedroom hotly pursued by one of my bastard cats. So that was me wide awake.

I've fed next door's cat and let her out. Considering doing some washing and hoovering after my tea and toast.

Need to make a string of onions (from ball pit balls and a pair of tights) for my French costume for Eurovision tonight. Ironically I do know how to make an actual string of onions but I've only got one onion.

We didn't go to Eurovision this year and our local pub is doing a Eurovision party and they've asked me to do a quiz. Trouble is, we live in Crystal Palace country so if they win the cup, Eurovision won't stand a chance against their celebrations so it could all go to pot. Still, it's only a two minute walk home so I could sneak out while one of my least favourites Greece is on.

claudiawinklemansfringetrimmer · 17/05/2025 10:59

Morning all! DH is working today and I was supposed to take the kids to a family BBQ at my mums house but DS has woken up with a rotten cough. So my mum is going to pick DD up from dancing and take her to the BBQ while DS and I cuddle up on the sofa and marathon Numberblocks. Then I’ll fetch child and my click and collect from Morrisons.

Pasta for tea then DH and I will watch Eurovision! This marks my 19th year of watching, I love it. We’ve got drinks and posh biscuits (and it’s my turn for a lie in tomorrow so I can stay up late and indulge without having to get up with a toddler at 6am!)

Gettingbysomehow · 17/05/2025 11:01

I'm recovering from orthopaedic surgery it's week 2 do I'm not allowed to do much. I did too much yesterday so spending the day in bed and on sofa.
I got dressed and put makeup on otherwise I just bed rot.
Cats fed and I'm watching the last voyage of the Demeter on amazon prime.
Summer calls outside.

Thislittlekitten · 17/05/2025 11:03

Morning all

Im having a cup of tea waiting on DS to be dropped home. We are going to a BBQ today.

Ive already fed the pets, walked dog and done a butcher run.

Looking forward to chilling out a bit.

Tonight for Eurovision DH has made some party food for us. We are all going to watch it.

BeNiceWhenItsFinished · 17/05/2025 11:03

Our choir is singing in concert tomorrow (a biggie) and I've been spending the last hour listening to clips of what we're singing as I'm not entirely sure of some of the words. I have a raging sore throat today so wasn't actually practicing. I hope the sore throat goes away by tomorrow. Confused

DilemmaDelilah · 17/05/2025 11:21

@lucysmam no Mr Dilemma dramas at all today! He has done ALL the work in the new spare room and apart from the curtains (due to arrive any minute now) and the chair it is all finished. I may even recover the seat today... I have the fabric and my trusty upholstery stapler...

I have been particularly grumpy over the past few weeks due to toothache and associated headaches, so he has had a lot to put up with, bless him.

We MAY have a few discussions about what goes into the cabinets in that room - but when it comes down to it he doesn't really get a say in that as he doesn't really have a lot to do with grandchild decisions. This particular grandchild is a regular Houdini, so special provisions need to be made.....

Weepingwillows12 · 17/05/2025 11:32

I just got back from brunch with my teenager. Has been nice to spend some time together as it's been a bit tricky this week with them pushing back on rules, not wanting to do homework etc. No big issues just a teen having an emotional week. Next I am going to do a bit of gardening then might go for a bike ride with the youngest. All interspersed with getting the house hoovered, cleaning bathrooms, laundry done etc.

SydneyCarton · 17/05/2025 11:52

We were up and out early with DP taking DS to a couple of football training sessions and me taking the DDs to theirs and then onto Kumon. They both finished their worksheets in about ten minutes with no mistakes which rarely happens so we were away pretty quickly. Now back at home with a cup of tea and the washing machine going trying to clean my cap, which got covered in pigeon shit during my run 🙄 (I do loops of the park while the girls play football).

DD2 has a sight test later so I’ll take her to that and drop off a Vinted parcel on the way. Probably watch some combination of the football and Eurovision but not especially bothered about either.

gingercat02 · 17/05/2025 11:52

Busy morning chez Ginger
We have been to the garden centre, load of washing done and on the line. Now on our way to the Apple shop to get DS airpods looked at. Lunch while we are out.
DS is out to watch the FA cup final and DH and will watch F1 qualifying.
No real plans past that.

OneLilacEagle · 17/05/2025 12:08

Afternoon all. Just back from dropping DS at an overnight cub event. He was a wee bit clingy which isn't like him so might get called back to get him but we'll see. He probably having a splendid day now! Stopped in at a cafe for a peaceful coffee then a friend arrived so I got a bit of peace then a nice catch up. DH is on call this weekend so I can basically please myself. Think I'm going to attempt some gentle decluttering / cleaning / admin and balance that with some relaxing in the sunshine. Steak for dinner, I think.

Zippedydodah · 17/05/2025 12:36

Good morning @lucysmam et al, I’m doing an all day art workshop by zoom, so an early dog walk with ZDog2 then set up everything in my craft room. I have a very painful back so not sure how it’ll go as I’ve been fidgeting around all morning.
DH is walking ZDog1, so she’ll be happy.
Will read back through the thread, I hope all’s well with everyone x

Kim82 · 17/05/2025 12:42

Good afternoon everyone. I’ve not managed to post on one of these threads for weeks as my weekends have just been manic lately! Today is a little bit slower though.

Dh is at work today and I was up early this morning to get dd10 ready for her dance show today. Had to do her hair and makeup and get all her costumes sorted and she was dropped off at the venue at 10am. Me and dd17 then went into town to get our nails done and got a Starbucks. On the way back I popped into Aldi as we both fancied one of their pasta salads for tea and I also went to Asda to collect my order of work trousers and may also have picked up some wine whilst there…

I’m now back home, dd17 had disappeared upstairs to do a bit of revision, I’ve put a load of washing on and I’m waiting for my Tesco delivery. I’m hoping to get a couple of loads of washing done and hung outside this afternoon then I need to get showered and ready to go and watch dd10’s show at 4pm with dh, ds17, sil and mil.

Dh is off to the pub after the show and I’ll bring the girls home (via McDonald’s for dd10 as she’ll be starving), we should get back around 8-8.30pm ish and my plan then is to spend the evening on the sofa with the girls watching a film, eating my pasta salad and sharing a few glasses of wine with dd17.

Andnowshesatoddler · 17/05/2025 14:21

We've had a day playing round the house today - my daughter is just on her nap currently and we will visit some family.
Just having fruit and protein yoghurt for lunch and thinking of another coffee or brew.
Will probably flick Eurovision on but won't watch closely.

JingsMahBucket · 17/05/2025 17:18

@LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand @Sourisblanche and @Rainbow1235 thank you for the good wishes. @Rainbow1235, I’m so sorry about your dad. It always hurts to lose a parent or watch them deteriorate. My mother had dementia and a whole host of issues. I tried getting stories out of her while I could. Sending you peace and light your way. 💐

The bed is stripped, several loads of washing done or in progress, half bath and kitchen surfaces cleaned.

This sun is making me feel a lot better. Our friends are coming over in a bit and I’ve set up all the food and tableware in the garden. Seeing people and laughing will be energizing. Life has been such an anxious slog lately so I’m giving myself a break. Enjoy evenings folks x

Sourisblanche · 17/05/2025 17:28

Enjoy your evening in the May sunshine @JingsMahBucket

twistyizzy · 17/05/2025 17:30

Sat drinking Pimms at Belsay Horse Trials 👌

Good Morning Everyone! What's everyone up to today?
Natsku · 17/05/2025 17:37

I made some pizza pastries to eat this evening, and watched a bit of telly, and watched DS on the trampoline for a while. Now DS is outside with OH playing football, DD is doing the dishes, and I'm counting down the minutes until Eurovision. Need to bring DS in soon to put him to bed before it starts.
