A friend is taking it and has lost a few stone and says her skin is now sagging, not just on her face but her body too.

Very normal with weight loss. The fat fills out the space so when we lose it it loosens. Nothing to do with WLI

It happens if you lose a lot of weight - especially if you lose it older and have less springy skin in general.

I've lost over 5 stone on Mounjaro - it's showing in my neck at the moment - if you deflate balloons of double chin, the balloon elastic is not going to fully go back to as if it was a fresh balloon you bought from the shop is it? I've got off lightly so far - even my neck is looking better this month than it did last month and it's only really my upper arms that have any loose skin as of yet - but I'm under no illusions that it's not coming and I think I've managed so far with a combination of luck and taking the weight loss really slow and steady.

Such is life. MN collectively needs to decide if it hates fat people or weight loss injections more though cos it seems to dither between the two at the moment.

@GarlicLitre so why say an older woman must choose between her face and her dress size and fat don’t crack, that’s judgement, unnecessary.

Its not judgement, these are both old, and accurate, adages.

Crikeyalmighty · 07/08/2025 11:10

In Sharon’s case she didn’t need to lose weight - but what does make a difference is if you have had lots of previous ‘work’ done - the weight loss then emphasises that work be it giving you really big eyes or dick lips or a pointy chin etc - however at the moment to be fair she’s also probably lost even more due to worry, stress and unhappiness . I hope at some point she feels ok enough to get her mojo back and gains a bit .

They're both common sayings. My mum says the 'choose between face...' regularly when she tries on clothes.

Regarding Sharon, I think grief is more aging than weight loss, in the short term.

She as spoken up about it and said she just cant put weight on but wold love to.

She probably shouldn't have started taking weight loss drugs from an already fairly low weight, then?

Xccccc · 07/08/2025 11:17

I don't think the saying fat doesn't crack is true of most people. I've found that overweight people may well have less wrinkles due to that fat but they don't look any younger due to the jowly sagging look which is much more aging than wrinkles. . If the weight is lost slowly and sensibly , there usually isn't any problem and a persons facial structure and features look much better after weight loss.

TheMeasure · 07/08/2025 11:23

Tell me you know nothing about WL jabs …..
Many posters on here.
Anyone who loses a substantial amount of weight in a brief period of time runs the risk of it showing in this way. Nothing to do with jabs.

She is 72! She looks fine. Goodness me.

Really, she looks fine?! Even the late Ozzy said she looks like “fucking Gollum”, bless him, he wasn’t wrong.

runningonberocca · 07/08/2025 11:36

Oh FFS! She’s in her 70’s. She’s just lost her husband. Give it a break. And anyway - obviously anyone who loses a considerable amount of weight in a relatively short time frame ( regardless of whether they used WLIs) will have a change in their facial appearance.
These medications are complete game changers for people with obesity with huge benefits to their health and longevity. They also seem to have other benefits for health in terms of cardiovascular disease, kidney disease, reduced incidence of certain types of cancer which is independent of weight loss and may well start to be prescribed for people of normal weight but with other health conditions.
Stop scaremongering- all it does is put off people from taking potentially life saving medication

It’s won’t be different to losing weight by any other means

Gettingbysomehow · 07/08/2025 12:16

There is no such thing as ozempic face. It's weight loss face. Sharon is incredibly thin and in her 70s. This is what you look like if you lose lots of weight in your later life.
Im 63 and have lost 5 stone with one more to go on mounjaro. I've lost it slowly 1 to 2 pounds a week no more. What were my double chins are now turkey neck and my face has dropped from the weight loss.
This is perfectly normal for my age. Im not going to do a Sharon and go super thin. I'd look ghastly. 10 stone will do. Im 5 foot 5.
Im going to have a face and neck lift next year. That will improve my general look but again Im not going too far with it. No puffer fish lips or overdoing the botox. If you're loads of weight with any programme you will look like a deflated balloon.

Give her a break. She just lost her husband. She looks sad as should be expected.

Yes OP should have consulted her crystal ball when posting this back in May before he'd even died. In fact if you hadn't dragged the thread back up then nobody else would still be commenting on it
