I was just pondering this today. I think only my children and OH. Which doesn’t seem a lot.

One of my dearest friends died nine days ago from terminal cancer. I rang him the Sunday night before he died. The last thing I heard him say to me was "I Love You too!
I said my goodbyes on the Monday and he died on the Thursday morning... 💔 💔 💔 💔

Such a nice ending to your last conversation ❤️

LozzaCh0ps · 16/05/2025 23:28

I don’t have any family really, but I hope my dog thinks I’m alright 😅

IndianaIndiana · 16/05/2025 23:30

My husband, my son, my parents, my 2 siblings, my aunt and my 3 oldest friends.

And my cat.

Woof! You're fine.

FrillySocksAndDocs · 16/05/2025 23:31

My four children

PawsAndTails · 16/05/2025 23:32

I can count 10/11 humans who would genuinely have affection for me, but there's probably more. Then there are others who would care and like me enough to have me in their life, but I wouldn't say they actually love me.

Wynter25 · 16/05/2025 23:32

Family, friends and kids

Daisy12Maisie · 16/05/2025 23:32

My 2 lovely children. Some friends. My sisters.

Others to add to the list but I think their version of love is different to mine and they are quite selfish- my mum and my boyfriend.
My mum can be kind and lovely but she also scores very highly on the scale for narcissism and has behaved very, badly over the years. So I’m not sure if that is actually love.

But ultimately 2 children, friends and sisters is a lot anyway and I am very lucky.

GarlicPile · 16/05/2025 23:35

1½. And perhaps half a dozen who feel sort of bound to me in an affectionate sort of way.

It used to be a lot of people, both ways. I've withdrawn a lot - too much, actually. It's mainly due to lack of energy but I probably ought to try a bit more. Or at least get a cat 😳

My Husband and my children. My father (my mother passed away) my brother and his partner, my FIL, and at a push I would say MIL (its a love hate relationship, I cant really stand her, but I do love her and know that she loves me) my aunt and uncle. I have a group of lovely friends who I love dearly so I assume or hope they loves me too 😂 my 2 dogs of course and my Dad’s dog. My work colleague confessed his love for me on a night out which was a bit strange… I feel very loved and love those in my life. X

GarlicPile · 16/05/2025 23:38

Oh, heck, @Wittsend1, what did you do about the work colleague? Was he serious, not just booze-gushing?

Sparklehead · 16/05/2025 23:48

Hmmmm, my DH, 3DC, mum, dad, 3 siblings, mother-in-law and best friend as definites. Then maybe another 3 close friends. So 14 in total. Plus wider family members and friends who like and are loving towards me. Which makes me feel very lucky. I love them all back of course.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 16/05/2025 23:54

My partner and my cat. We don’t have kids, and I don’t love my mother or sibling and expect she/he feel the same. My dad’s dead.

I think lots of people like me, a lot, but their hearts wouldn’t break if I died.

Bbq1 · 16/05/2025 23:55

My husband and son. my mum, sister, brother and niece. Maybe a couple of close friends.

Bbq1 · 16/05/2025 23:55

Oh and my dcat!

Swan6284 · 16/05/2025 23:56

DH and DS only I think. Not really close to extended family and definitely no reciprocal love between me and siblings.

I’m quite happy with that. It suits me.

uncomfortablydumb60 · 16/05/2025 23:58

My 3 adult sons

MummyInTheNecropolis · 16/05/2025 23:58

My DD, mum, sister, BIL, niece and nephew, aunt, cousin, and my 3 best friends. I don’t think anyone has ever been in love with me though.

moanyhole · 17/05/2025 00:05

My dad, my mom possibly (highly narcissistic traits that seems to have mellowed a lot with age, is that possible, she seems like a completelydifferentperson now she's elderly) my brother, my MIL (sadly passed away recently) my FIL, DH, kids x 3, dog. One lifelong friend. Happy out with that.

NattyTurtle59 · 17/05/2025 02:00

No-one I would say. I have no parents, no partner, no siblings, no aunts/uncles, no children. I have friends of course but very much doubt that they love me. Possibly the neighbour's cat, who spends a lot of time with me, all my cats have gone now.

Springtime43 · 17/05/2025 08:07

DH and 2 friends (and the cat)

Hottoffeesauce · 17/05/2025 08:14

Just the cat. And only because I feed him 😁.

TorroFerney · 17/05/2025 08:17

Willyourselfforward · 16/05/2025 21:22

No one. I deserve it

I very much doubt that. The deserve it bit I mean, that’s not how love works!

redboxer321 · 17/05/2025 08:18

CoubousAndTourmalet · 16/05/2025 22:53

None is the honest answer, given that my dog is not a person.

Same, sadly

TorroFerney · 17/05/2025 08:19

My Husband and child, that’s an abundance of love in my opinion.
