Those gift bags you get when you go on a hen do

I’ve never wanted to appear ungrateful but I’ve always hated them. Full of rubbish no one needs and a pain in the arse to carry round.

But, planning a very good friend’s do and don’t want to skimp. Is there anything you’ve ever got in those bags which you’ve liked?

So far I’m planning:

Paracetamol
Energy gel
Haribo
Mugshot noodles
Vodka shot
Mask of the groom
Itinerary card
A condom

Please don’t comment to say you don’t like hen dos/the bags are a waste of time and unnecessary/the wedding industry is out of control.

I’m just wanting ideas from people who’ve actually liked something they’ve got in one of these bags.

Ear plugs
Paracetamol
Chocolate
Shot glass

Do not, as my friend did, pack party poppers and get stopped for carrying explosives.

😂😂 Makes a good story though!

Yes to Rennies! Depending on how old you all are!

Depending on the location/theme - one handy thing we got once was individual wine glass charms so you could always identify your glass. Was a house share/Airbnb type hen so actually v handy

Yes, these are useful!

Ooh, maybe a lottery scratch card!

TheNameIsDickDarlington · 15/05/2025 22:13

Oh for sure a penisstraw! That's a hen do staple.

The last hen do i went to we put sunglasses (just cheap heart shaped ones) maybe flip flops for the stumble home? Temporary tattoos have been an unexpected success. Little friendship bracelets were cute.

I will say though as they're not 100% essential, try your best but don't stress too much about it as people won't be expecting a lot.

Haribo? Noodles?
It all sounds quite odd. Who needs this shite?

At the last hen do I went to upon returning to the hotel I nearly cried tears of relief upon seeing a ginger biscuit sealed next to the kettle, such was the overwhelming realisation I was hungry once I stopped drinking. What I’d have done for haribo and a mugshot.

Alternatively, they can be used as a pre-brunch settling the stomach carb.

A world of possibilities from these titans of hangover recovery aids.

I loved party bags as a kid and I’d have liked a party bag on the hen parties I attended. Never got one though! You’ve had some good ideas. Perhaps I should tag along 😆

ThatBusyPanda · 15/05/2025 22:22

I made some recently and they went down really well. Main items were slippers to wear inside the hen party house because it wasn’t something people thought to pack and champagne glasses with their initial to stop drinks getting mixed up

Yep I got a champagne flute with my name on (on the wedding day) but I imagine they’re easy to make. Grab a bunch from IKEA or Asda for a few quid and order name stickers off eBay. That’s a nice one

AnotherJaffaCakePlease · 15/05/2025 22:34

Scrunchie/hair tie or claw clip. Maybe matching or to fit colour scheme, special one for the bride.

CountryQueen · 15/05/2025 22:44

Noodles and johnnies? wtf. Absolute bag of tat.

The groom face mask could be amusing but otherwise please no. At least do something themed that everyone might like, the elements of a cocktail? Salt sachet, lime, tequila, bag of olives?

dijonketchup · 15/05/2025 22:45

Little stuff…

Some hilarious sunglasses?!

You can order custom temporary tattoos? Maybe some with the groom’s name, or bride and groom faces. I would think that was funny. You can also get custom rolls of Love Hearts with bride and groom names. What about a stamped postcard with bride’s address on it - everyone can write their favourite hen do moment/best marriage advice, etc and send to her as souvenirs?

If it were me I would much rather have fewer, better quality items. Depends on your budget. Etsy have lots of personalised washbag/purse options for toiletries. I would like a classy one of those with a few bits in, or a T-shirt/hoody/hat I could actually wear afterwards. Good luck!

Bibbidybop92 · 15/05/2025 22:49

The last one I went on she put little home made trail mixes in, little chocolate chips and pretzels and that sort of stuff, it was great at 5am when we was all drunk and hungry

countdowntonap · 15/05/2025 22:50

ZBiotics Pre-Alcohol Probiotic Drink, or at least some electrolytes.
Disposable cameras?

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 15/05/2025 22:50

When do they get the party bag? Is it when you all meet up or is it to take home with them? And what are you doing? Is it a weekend away or an evening out ?

Blueberry911 · 15/05/2025 22:51

Why the Noodles and the condom? Grim.

We’re going to pubs, we don’t need to take the limes with us.

Of course it’s a bag of tat. It’s a hen do. I said this at the start.

Thank you! Tattoos ordered!

A bin bag to put it all in after you’ve handed them out .. !!

and this gets added to the long list of pointless shit people seem to think they need to do when they get married !

When they get to the airport. A weekend away short haul, staying in hotels.

If you haven't already started buying stuff just buy a bottle of spirits you can share or some breakfast for the next morning.

RampantIvy · 15/05/2025 22:57

No to sunglasses. I wear prescription lens sunglasses and cheap, gimmicky ones would just end up on a plastic mountain.

Slippers is a good idea if it is a houseshare and anything that isn't going to get thrown away afterwards. So anything that can be eaten or drunk. No plastic tat.

I have never been given a gift bag at a hen do, so it isn't usual for every hen do.

Just don't buy anything that will just get thrown away afterwards.
