Can I ask what data packages yoi have on mobile phone ?

I'm in between a rock and a hard place trying to sort a new contract but currently have three lines with one provider and I can share my generous data package with them and pay low ish contract cost for them (sim only for DS2 and a handset contract for DS1 which compared to other providers seems a lot but has a year left )
None of us have new phones but I think we all use a fair bit of data but here's the thing- my iPhone only had the data used since I got it so I don't know what I need per month and the same for boys.
I've got a great Tesco offer and have asked for my PAC code to leave but don't know what data package to get and also if I'll now need to boost their mobiles with extra data undoing the cost of the saving on my new contract
Current provider wants £67 for an iPhone 15 unless I switch to their broadband and they knock £20 off.
Painful. It's like buying a car these days !!!

I used to have unlimited data for £10 a month SIM only with EE, but I fell out with them over roaming/shit customer service, so switched to 60GB and Europe roaming for £13 with Tesco. I could have found similar a bit cheaper, but Tesco was recommended to for great customer service.

I wouldn’t hesitate to switch, but I’m not loyal to any corporation or company.

You've all made my mind up that I'm going to go and if I have to buy DS a bit more data I'll still be better off.

35Gb for 6 months at 99p, then £7.99/month. No tie in, renews monthly. Lebara on Vodaphone. Incudes data roamings in India, where we are going on holiday.

Mine is SIM only with Lebara, I pay about £4.70 for 5GB and rarely use it all. You can get
35GB for £7.90 (plus usually a very discounted first 6 months if you go via money saving expert). My young adults kids have a bit more data than me but still well under a £10.

We buy second hand Apple phones outright and my DH usually buys new Android But not the big names.

OP I have a (mostly) thick stone-walled house so we have “Powerline plugs” that we have in our sockets to route the signal around the house and out in the garden shed (which has a plug socket in in it).

what sort of broadband speeds do you have/want? A lot of town/city locations are now cable to the big street box, if not the house.

I have Sky for our phones which runs on the O2 network. 5 sims, an iPhone and iPad each for husband and me and phone for Father in law. About £8 per sim for 3Gb of data per sim and unlimited calls and texts. What I love about them is that any unused data gets banked at the end of the month and can be rolled back when needed. That's plenty for us, but if I were to need more for a holiday I could bump the data allowance up for just one month and then drop it down again.

I have 40gb for £9 with smarty. The DC have 10gb for £5, also smarty. We're out of contract as realised the contacts were costing us way too much.

25gb for £5.99 - Asda Mobile, and then 20% cashback on that onto the Asda app - so effectively £4.79.

Don’t buy a phone bundled with package for a new model phone. You can buy interest free from Apple over 24 months. I do that and buy a separate sim. Me and my oldest have about 40gb I think, I only use about half. Youngest has unlimited because she lives on phone and it makes life easier. That is through three though which is relatively affordable for high usage sims. Me and oldest are with O2 for the priority tickets perk but they are not as competitive on price/

I pay £16.20 for 3 12gb sims with smarty. Also got top cashback effectively giving us a month free. There were other companies with better deals but we're rural and not all networks are great here.

We are on EE. All sim free. Data can be gifted to each other. Not cheap but very easy to manage. Ds has unlimited data, DH has 30GB I think and I have 25GB. I knowmine costs £11 a month. I used to be with ID which was very cheap and reliable costing £7 a month for 5GB. I only ever used about 3GB. We upgraded as we have a caravan now and need plenty of data for watching Netflix etc.

I'm SIM only, limitless data and netflix, £30pm. Probably paying more than some but I use my phone A LOT and have no impetus to change at present.

A 15 direct from Apple is £29 a month for 2 years. So depends for how long you are contracted in and how much data you will use.

so assuming it s 3 yr contract that’s £900, a phone would be £699. So in theory that’s £200 for 3 years of data which is pretty good at about £6 a month.

when I bought my 15 I managed to get signed up to a market research project which paid me an amount each month for posting comments on what I have done while looking for a phone - I did a lot of research 🤣

The DC and I all have VOXI sim only for £10 a month for 60Gb. It's technically a pre-paid deal but set up to take payment each month so I don't notice any difference from a contract except that I can cancel/change whenever I want to. It also means the DC can't accidentally run up a bill for stuff not covered by the package. I think the standard offer is 20Gb for £10 but there's an offer on for 3 x data which stays until you change packages. We took the extra data deal last time it was offered, and I like that existing customers can take advantage of the deals for new customers too (looking at you AA!!!). Social media (including whatsapp) is free as long as you've got some data left (so using whatsapp for calls etc doesn't eat in to your allowance). I know I sound like I'm on commission but I've just been really pleased with them, compared to my previous provider where I was locked in to a contract and the price kept going up. The DC like that they have regular give-aways too- obviously just a gimmick but they quite often get free sweets/cosmetics etc. It's owned by Vodafone but a lot cheaper when I last compared.

Ok. Back again. Another call from EE retentions - why? No new offer.

One of the advantages of O2 is they do airtime rewards, which is like a cashback but when you earn £10 worth it goes towards your phone bill. I didnt have to pay 3 months of my bills last year

I took the Lebara offer of 75p per month for 6 months, unlimited texts and calls with 35mb data, for my son. It was advertised on Martin Lewis website. Then just bought him a Samsung sim free handset.
