A hypothetical question...

Imagine you had three fridges, one of which you use very rarely. Now Imagine the last time you thought about that fridge, which lives in a basement, was Christmas 2023.

Ok.

Now Imagine remembering that the last time you engaged with that fridge was December 2023. And you put the remains of a goose and some cheese in that fridge.

And then forgot about it until, let's say May '25, because you're moving house and suddenly remembered you have a basement fridge.

Would you;

A) Engage with the horror

B) Arrange a removal for a 'fridge', with waste disposal people.

Obviously hypothetical, because who'd be that stupid??

If the fridge is on and working, anything inside it will be completely dried out unless it was in airtight packaging.

It'll just be a mummified goose corpse. No drama.

How was the goose packaged for refrigeration? Is it in foil, a tupperware ? And the cheese ? If in tupperware then you can hopefully just nip in quickly and throw them wholesale in a black bag? It's going to be pretty rank. Good luck!

Just foil on the carcass.

It's probably just dessicated.

Hopefully.

My Dad went into a home at the beginning of January, his fridge was fairly unbearable even before then, I have not opened it since for reasons unknown......

I'm mildly curious, nothing is seeping out yet and I can't smell anything yet..but ..

I'm favouring duct tape and a man with a van too

Google search food left refrigerated for 17 months what’s left?
some things just dry out if left long enough ( hopefully)

Whorl · 14/05/2025 17:46

I think they may have been an episode of line of duty where they disposed of a fridge (it had a dead body in it) see what they did

Whorl · 14/05/2025 17:47

I'm going down. Wish me luck.

What you now need to do, OP, is never come back to the thread, thus ensuring MN immortality.

This reminds me: I really need to go and check on the sealed tub of whipping cream that has been sitting at the back of my fridge since Christmas. Only Christmas 2024, but nonetheless...🫣

EverythingElseIsTaken · 14/05/2025 18:53

I think I can actually smell that…… 🤢
