blood pressure monitoring

I'm 53, never had bp issues, outside of 1 episode on my first pregnancy which was due to being dehydrated

I've not been well, had ear, throat, sinus and gland infections in the last month, had 2 rounds of antibiotics and steroids, I have turned a corner and am 95% better. I would have maybe not gotten so ill, ( I couldn't breathe at one stage as my throat would close up) if the first doctor hadn't decided I only had ear wax. (rant over)

during 3 different doctor checks with the infections, my bp was high, so today I have a 24 hour blood pressure monitor, it has ranged From 183/120 to just right not 119/90

I don't take drugs, I don't drink more than 2/3 glasses of wine a month
I walk for an hour every day, I cycle sometimes, I am overweight but currently working on that

Should I be worried, and I know the doctor will have results tomorrow for me, but does anyone else have high blood pressure and did they get it back to normal and through what steps.

I can’t help but following as recently getting consistently very high readings after never having any issues at all. Hopefully someone will be along soon who is more help!

Yes, me about 3 years ago. Came out of nowhere really as had lower blood pressure up until then. I’m 49 now. GP said they couldn’t see a reason for it and that it was probably likely just age. I’ve been taken Amlopidine ever since with no issues, all under control and GP has said it’s fine to stay on it long term.

You can try via diet and exercise, low salt, no alcohol etc. I do know someone that tried, also pre menopausal and it didn’t make much difference to her at all and she still needed the medication.

I am keeping an eye on mine after a health check said it was a bit high. I have decided to drink a glass of beetroot juice every day as that is meant to help a lot. I also want to avoid meds for as long as possible.

I will try that too.
