Piglet in bed v Secret Linen Store v Soak and Sleep

I’ve decided I really want to try pure linen bedding . Given the cost, I want to get the right bedding.

ive seen on here all the above get recommended .

ive looked at best of pages and these three mostly .

Soak and Sleep have reductions and are a better price. But I read the revoe2s on their page and some said they are transparent. One person said after three years it started to be too worn to use.

I thought linen lasted for years and just got better .

One of the best of pages did mention bobbling with Soak and Sleep.

So wondering if I just have to pay the higher price of the other two retailers .

So do I need to pay more for bedding that will last and is better quality ?

thanks

Some linen is heavier than. I think Secret Linen is .

This has all been helpful.

im working out the different weights as there does seem to be lighter and heavier linen.

i am torn between Piglet and Secret Linen .

Pink Chalk Linen doesn’t have the colours want, prefer deeper .

I've got Piglet and Secret Linen Store.
Piglet is much much softer, has washed really well and got better with age. The Secret Linen Store stuff has gone quite cardboardy.

Overtheatlantic · 16/05/2025 20:42

I’ve a couple of duvet covers from Secret Linen and seriously rate them for quality. Also recently bought a linen duvet cover from Piglet in Bed and it’s lovely and soft.

I have just looked and I bought mine from Soak and Sleep 6 years ago and think the bottom sheet may finally need replacing this year

DS's bottom sheet only lasted a couple of years. The top sheets and pillow cases are all going strong

I did find the bottom sheets are very generous and I have to use an elastic thing to pull them in.vim not sure if the excess movement caused DS's to were quickly.

I'm also disappointed that they are supposed to be washed at 40 degrees

Didntask · 16/05/2025 20:58

I've got a few full sets from Piglet, I love it. No quality issues, and its as soft now as the day I bought it. I even tumble dry mine on occasion. I like that you can mix and match the bundles.

TheWatersofMarch · 16/05/2025 21:41

I definitely would avoid Soak and Sleep. I found they wore out quickly. I expected they’d outlive me.

HundredMilesAnHour · 16/05/2025 21:53

I can’t comment on Piglet linen bedding but I LOVE their linen sleepwear. OMG it’s amazing! I’ve slept naked for most of my adult life (unless I’m away in a hotel etc) but I bought a Piglet linen nightshirt for when I was away one weekend. I loved it so much that I’ve now bought tons of their linen sleepwear and wear it every night to bed (and for a lazy coffee in the morning). If their bedding is anything like their sleepwear, I need to step away from this thread right now. 😛

Actually, my bedding is all high thread white cotton from Tielle and/or Richard Haworth with 25 momme silk pillowcases. I do have a wonderful silk duvet and silk duvet cover that I bought when I lived in China but I move around a lot in bed it seems so the damn thing constantly slides onto the floor.

I had some from secret linen that was ok, but then got more and wasn’t impressed. Have just bought some from piglet and it seems pretty good.

my favourite is an Australian brand - society of wanderers.

ButterBeans91 · 16/05/2025 22:02

I’ve had multiple sets of piglet in bed sheets for ~4 years now, all still in great condition. You could also look at Cultiver or By Molle - both ship to the UK and have great reviews, I’ll be buying from one of those when I want some more. Ultimate in premium linen is Volga but prices are the next level up!

endofthecorridoor · 16/05/2025 22:14

I've had piglet bedding for 9 years and it's still going strong The sheets have worn a few holes but duvet covers and pillow cases have faded beautifully and washes and ironed well

I've just ordered a set from secret linen as it had the lacy edges I wanted so we will see. But it's white and I would not expect white to last as long

FalseSpring · 16/05/2025 22:14

I've had Secret Linen for many years, top and bottom sheets with no issues. I was thinking of buying more in a different colour so will be following this thread with interest.

MoiraRoseForever · 16/05/2025 22:36

Interesting that some found Secret Linen soft but another cardboard like. Piglet seems to have consistent good comments I’m here .

i have some cotton from Secret Linen , pillow cases and fitted sheet , and it’s lovely .

Some here have mix and matched linen and cotton. I might start with duvet cover and see how it goes . I don’t like matching colours , so it’s not a problem not having identical bits.

Seems the quality is not what it used to be judging by comments here .

@MoiraRoseForever have a Google for some discounts before you buy. There is normally a 10 or 15% to be had.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but just wondering what the outcome was @MoiraRoseForever ?

Did you get linen in the end? If so, any regrets?

I'm in the same position - tempted but want to make sure it's worth the splurge!

Oh thanks. I meant to update.

I got a duvet cover from Piglet in Bed and pillowcases from Secret Linen.

I love both. I would say though Piglet is the softer. Its lovely and great in hot weather. Secret is also soft and very little in it. I think the reviews said Secret was heavier. That's why I went with Piglet for the cover. Might get a Secret one for linen.

Both do a discount if you sign up.

The both also had sales on.

It is worth the money. I will probably buy more but on sale.

May I add Rise & Fall to the list of bedlinen companies for you to consider? I have several sets of cotton sateen sheets and pillowcases and so far, we've been very pleased. My linen Soak & Sleep set has outlived its cotton equivalent.
