Recommendations for quieter/bookable summer holiday activities

We don’t tend to do big holidays over summer. Instead we do lots of one or two night breaks, or really nice days out.

I like to try and find different things we can do to elevate normal treats to something really special, and we need to avoid big crowds/really busy things which is tricky in the holidays. For example last year we went away for a couple of days, and went to Longleat Zoo. Instead of just going to the Zoo I booked us a family VIP tour experience so we got to do the entire zoo just us in a jeep with a keeper, meet some of the animals close up, etc.

I’m looking for some fun things to do this summer where we can book to do activities just as a family, or tour solo, that sort of thing.

Aside from Longleat, does anyone know of anything?

Children and 7 and 10, happy to travel around the UK but we are based in the South East.

Thanks!

A boat tour? I'd imagine London would be too busy if you need to avoid crowds but they do them in Windsor with varying lengths Windsor Boat Trips | River Thames Fully Skippered Boat Trips. You could also do a private tour of Windsor castle, there are various companies that offer them.

I’ve mentioned we this place on here previously as I can’t recommend it enough. If you do want to go away for a few days, have a look at Bainland Lodge Retreats. We’ve stayed there during school holidays and you can wonder around the site freely without encountering many people. The swimming pool is also available for private hire.
Our lodge was really private and had a huge gate at the bottom of a huge garden (like a field) to close it off for more privacy.
