Restaurants at Royal Albert Hall

I'm going down to London for Pete Tong soon yay!

We were wondering about eating at one of the cheaper restaurants there in the hall. It would make life easier after navigating trains and Tube.

However, I'm not sure if they will be horrendously noisy and we won't be able to catch up properly and have a chat.

Does anyone have any experience of these places. There's a pizza place and a bar that does burgers and stuff.

We don't need fancy food. Would like to keep to a budget. It looks like there's a few places near South Kensington tube that would be reasonable cost as well eg Cote have a set 2 courses £20.

I definitely prefer to eat at the venue because it just makes life so much easier, but I can see my friend point that it's gonna be noisy.

Anyone eaten there? Thanks.

@Zone2NorthLondon thanks

was it "can't hear yourself think" levels of busy? Depends what's on I guess.

No,really ambient. Huge windows airy, enough space between tables. Not noisy in the least. Food nice, very efficient staff and venue really charming

Maggie J’s just off Kensington High Street (near the tube) is good for decent food at decent prices. Definitely not noisy and “clanging”

Only a 10 min walk or so from the RAH

TizerorFizz · 11/05/2025 16:51

@Huckleberries There isn’t fancy food at the RAH! No worries on that score. We went to Verdi (Italian) recently and the tables are close together. We saw two couples have an issue when one person spilt some water and it went over the person/table next door! Book an earlyish slot. More relaxing that way. Food nothing special but it’s convenient.

We ate at the Elgar Room before a show last year - food was good and from memory it didn't feel particularly crowded.

I tend to eat a late lunch if going to the Albert hall then eat afterwards though classical concerts tend to finish earlier

AppleKatie · 11/05/2025 17:03

I’ve eaten there it was lovely, I forget the name of the one we went to but i distinctly remember it being really calm and serene!

if you’ve booked a table it isn’t going to be any louder than any other restaurant in London.

Completely agree

Thanks everyone

I'll look at your suggestions

there is one in the venue that's about £60 which is definitely not in budget

I'm finishing work early and then heading into London so it does have to be early dinner.

my friend is just weirdly unhappy about eating there but she was in a funny mood when we discussed it. I actually haven't been there at all so no idea how busy the restaurant gets.

They get booked up because they are convenient. Verdi is definitely cheaper.

There are lots of restaurants around South Kensington underground station and then it’s a 15 minute walk to RAH. These restaurants are also often busy. I’d book one at RAH and at least you know you will get food when you need it! They also know you are going to the show so service is quite snappy.

TizerorFizz · 11/05/2025 18:25

Coda is £69 for 2 courses, Elgar room £49 for 2 courses. Verdi £33 for 2 or £39 for 3. Unless it’s a special event, we found Verdi good enough but it’s quite crowded. Pays your money …..

Most restaurants around South Ken are busy noisy places too. DD likes Comptoir Libanais though for wholesome Lebanese food - if you can get in!
