When do I start to give up on this?

I was in a place last week where I really felt like I needed a massage. My body ached all over from a lot of work that I did and I was also very stressed.

I contacted a spa in the city that I used to go to before covid but they were all booked out for last weekend.

I kept browsing online within my county and local city for a place that would be able to give me an appointment. Especially so close to the weekend.

I started with a new massage clinic because they were able to give me a 1 hour back, neck and shoulder massage. I did find it very beneficial. However my lower body still ached for more. I really do need a full body massage.

The benefits of the massage soon wore away as the week progressed with more stress. It was a very though week for me. It was so so so so hard.

I went online and checked out the website where I had the appointment last weekend and they do offer full body massages but it is not an option to book through their online booking system asking you to phone instead.

I am not a huge fan of phoning to be honest. I filled out the 'contact us' section on their website requesting for a full body massage and would ther be any availability for such a date. I didn't get a reply to that.

So today I sent an email requesting the same.

Again, no response.

I thought there was a WhatsApp sign on their website but now I can't find that. I do have the number and they are on WhatsApp.

However I don't feel comfortable any more with going down the WhatsApp route after making contact twice and no response.

When do I start giving up on this place and on receving a reply back?
It's also very disappointing. Because the time and price is affordable. 100 pounds for 1hr 30 minutes and it's in the city. Other places might charge more and have less minutes.

I would prefer a full body massage and to incorporate an appointment regularly once a month from here on in.

Do I need to start looking for another place now?

Also my massage therapist last week was male and I really loved the firm touch and pressure from him. Sometimes I find a female touch might be light and tickley.

I think I am tempted to seek out another male massage therapist.

I am just somewhat disappointment because there hasn't been any reply back to me.

It's no biggie. It means I will likely have to find another salon or clinic and maybe travel more.

If you want a quick reply then you need to phone if that's what the website is telling you to do. You'll also be able to book recurring appointments if you want, and that way you won't have to phone again.

Profhilodisaster · 10/05/2025 18:32

Just pick up the phone! So much angst when you could just call them . If you are unable to bring yourself to call, then I think you'll need to find somewhere else but the more you phaff about the longer you will have to wait for an appointment.

BlueBrickRoad · 10/05/2025 22:35

Thank you for the replies.

Ok I might phone on Monday or Tuesday when I get a free patch of time. I hate calls though. Hate them. I am ok sometimes on the phone then other times I get anxious.

I don't understand why my written communication was ignored though and it doesn't fill me with confidence to make a phone call.

The massage clinic, I think it advertised a lot for sports recovery and office worker desk massage more than any sort of a spa or relaxing experience. I need my body massaged and I don't care in what environment. When I first went last week it was just like an office room with blinds down. Not a spa room but that's ok.

What if they don't want me as a client?

Usually they have written communications set up to go to one email that is not often checked if they are asking you to phone. It won't be anything personal at all (after all, they'll want the business!), they just won't have seen it.

Write down everything you want to say on a piece of paper and have that in front of you on the call in case you get anxious. That way you have a 'script'.

Weirdly similar to a post last week about full body massages 🤔

So, I was going to make a phone call yesterday. But then they replied back to my email yesterday saying that they have to look at the schedule and get back to me. That was yesterday morning. It's been over 24 hours since that email and they never got back to me.

To be honest at this stage I find it very poor form.

This is a lot of angst over a massage. Just phone them, or if you don’t want to do that, find somewhere else. It’s not rocket science and doesn’t warrant multiple threads.

DogsandFlowers · 13/05/2025 10:51

Oh my is this a joke post? Hope so it’s utterly rediculous talk about first world problems. Who in their right mind posts a massive spiel on MN instead of making a 30 second phone call? Also the ‘light and tickly’ comment has seriously icked me so thanks for that 😂

BlueBrickRoad · 13/05/2025 11:30

Yes, I was going to phone them yesterday but my email was replied to. The reply said that they will check the schedule and get back to me but they never did.

Ok… so either phone them to follow up, or find somewhere else?

MereNoelle · 13/05/2025 11:33

Also, I’ve had a lot of massages done by women, and they’ve never been ‘light and tickly’. They ask what level of pressure you want, and massage accordingly. Firm is firm.

Maybe they're picking up on a strange vibe, who knows...

Phone them if you want it sorted. Forget it if you don't. Them saying they'd get back to you doesn't prevent you phoning. It is a lot of angst over a fairly normal part of modern life. You could've called them in the time your OP took to write.

Profhilodisaster · 13/05/2025 15:06

I think they're saying either phone or forget it. Who wants to get into a backwards and forwards email conversation, by the time they offer you an appointment and you reply, that appointment could have been taken by someone else , or they offer you an appointment that you can't make and so they have to check the diary again.
Just call them !

They have an online booking system but it's only for the 1 hour massages. For the full body/90 minute massages I am not able to book online.

Just bloody phone them. Or don’t.

Profhilodisaster · 13/05/2025 21:17

Gordon Bennett , the bottom line is, if you want a massage then you need to phone them or find somewhere else that has online booking for a 90 minute one .

Have you heard of Main Character Syndrome? The world isn't tailored to your personal tastes. As a consumer you have money to spend and you choose where to do so. You either want to buy what they're selling, in the manner they're selling it, or you do not. It goes no deeper than this. You're one human on a planet of millions.

But I feel you know this and are pulling attention because you're lacking in that, rather than common sense.

Needtosoundoffandbreathe · 14/05/2025 07:27

This is bonkers. If you're not prepared to phone for an appointment as asked on their website then find somewhere else that uses Fresha or another app system and book there. You should consider getting help if you can't make a phone call to book an appointment as this is holding you back.

notatinydancer · 14/05/2025 07:37

Blimey what a palaver over a massage. Do you overthink everything this much ? No wonder you’re so tense.

RentalWoesNotFun · 14/05/2025 07:54

I’d be on wowcher or groupon, 5PM etc to see what’s on offer. I like a swim sauna and massage package. So relaxing.

Not sure what the weird comment you made about male masseuses, you just ask the therapist for the pressure you want. In my experience It doesn’t matter whether they are male or female. If they do a lot of massage they will be strong.

Why would they “not want” you as a customer? Weird comment. Are you in some way different to the majority of people or well known in the community for some reason? A customer is a customer. They just want youre money in exchange for their services.

Is there something pertinent you’re not telling us?

Please stop fixating on massage and see your GP.
