Is it okay to give up with verrucas?

I’ve had them on my feet for like the past 5 years and nothing gets rid of them. I’m at my wits end and I’m about to just give up. I mean they don’t really bother me but I would be nice if they would go away. :)

It’s up to you. As long as you don’t use public spaces like changing rooms or swimming pools barefoot.

I’ve given up on a wart on my finger… that I caught from dd whilst treating hers… which Ironically disappeared after a week’s treatment! 🙄

I’ve tried loads of different products, plus regular filing using an electric scholl file, until it bleeds! But nope. Still there!

I did get rid of ds verruca once by making it bleed. Apparently it kicks your immune in to gear . I soaked it until it went stringy, then pulled a couple of the strings out with tweezers to make it bleed…. It was gone in a couple days!

Salicylic acid and duct tape are your friends here.
Worked a treat on my little ones foot - had loads!

I had a gp freeze my dd's off once. It took 5 sessions. He said we should have come sooner. They can keep spreading.

Thedandelionshavewon · 10/05/2025 07:46

In my experience, they go eventually
and nothing seems to help them go quicker.

Five years is about average for me.

Winter2020 · 10/05/2025 07:49

If you have a number of them and they are not going away after years you could ask your GP if it is worth having bloods done to check that your immune system seems to be OK.

Cotswoldmama · 10/05/2025 07:51

I had a wart on my finger as a teenager for ages and nothing would get rid of it, then someone told me about an old wives tale, which was to snap a dandelion stem and apply the white sap stuff to the wart and within a week it was gone! It might have been coincidence but worth a try?!

I’m going to try this now! Thanks!

Have you tried a Covid vaccine to start immune responded? It worked for me.

1apenny2apenny · 10/05/2025 07:54

I attacked mine in lockdown. Duct tape over it and pumice it down every few days. It went and I had had it for years!

Toomanydogwalks · 10/05/2025 07:56

Apple cider vinegar worked for the one DD had. Gone in a week.

MrsPatrickDempsey · 10/05/2025 07:58

DS had a large painful one on his foot. Making it bleed was the key to our success too.

redboxer321 · 10/05/2025 07:59

Yeah, it's okay and that's what I did.
It eventually went after about 12 years.
There's always another treatment to try but nothing works or didn't for me.
I even went to a podiatrist who said I could try freezing it but didn't think it would work as it had been there for so long. She filed it down and that was that.
Mine did hurt when I caught it but treatments hurt and they don't bloody work!
You obviously have to take steps to not spread it but other than that I'd just live with it. It is nice when they go though. You realise how much it has been bothering you just being there in the background. Sorry. I hope yours goes soon.

CliantheLang · 10/05/2025 08:09

Have you tried the horse paste...err, I mean ivermectin cream? Got rid of mine.

It's interesting you say this! I had a verucca for over ten years which I tried to treat with over the counter stuff and with expensive treatments at a podiatrist....nothing worked. I had given up. Then I got covid last year (despite having been fully vaccinated in 2020/2021) and just after that the verucca disappeared of its own accord. I'm sure it's not a coincidence!

SoMentallyDrained · 10/05/2025 08:29

The banana trick worked for me

DeepWriter · 10/05/2025 10:43

Thanks! Yeah they are so stubborn. I’m just going to live with them.

Exactly

blackheartsgirl · 10/05/2025 11:27

I dunno. I had a foot full of them for about five years, nothing over the counter worked and in the end just left them be. It was only after coincidentally using a teatree shampoo and a few drops of oil in the bath and remembering after 2 months that I had veruccas that I realized they were all gone 😆 15 years ago and never had one since.

i do have autoimmune conditions too strangely

WtafIsThat · 10/05/2025 11:37

Mine just eventually disappeared by itself, after about ten years.

TorroFerney · 10/05/2025 11:40

Podiatrist told me (was there with my dad and asked his opinion as daughter had about 20 on his feet) that you need to let your immune system kill them, he was right, one day they just went. I had one in my foot for years as a kid, again that just disappeared. Wonder if it’s different for children?

Hebrides181 · 10/05/2025 14:16

I gave up on mine, they did take about 10 years to vanish.

NotMyRealAccount · 10/05/2025 14:23

Yes, they're not harmful, they're just annoying, and left alone they'll go away eventually. I've seen feet end up in quite a mess from overenthusiastic attempts to burn or cut out veruccas.

GildedRage · 10/05/2025 14:28

Are they not uncomfortable in shoes? When you walk etc?
yes your unreasonable to let go on your health and that of your family.
