Do I have to explain myself for regular massages

I think my previous thread was moved to mental health.

I am interested in booking more regular massages and I am thinking, do I need to explain myself to a new massage clinic for booking regular massages.

Do they expect people to only people with sports injuries. For me, I am dealing with intense stress.

Just say it's for stress and tension so they can treat you accordingly.

Try an aromatherapy massage - usually a more holistic approach

No. Some people only offer specialised sports massages. Others do more general massages, like for stress. You might have to fill out a questionnaire the first time you go.

In any case, once you're on the table, there is no hiding tense muscles from the masseuse! Apparently, my calves (which I hadn't really noticed...) were "too tight" and my back and shoulders were "solid". I'd merely gone in for a deep tissue massage to deal with a back injury 😂

Now that I go fairly regularly, she doesn't ask questions as to why I go. She just cracks on and relieves the tension in my back and shoulders.

In my area you can book either relaxation massages or therapeutic massages. Maybe you need to book the relaxation? No, you don't have to justify being there. I'd just tell them you have a lot of stress and have decided to have regular massages as part of your self care routine.

No of course you don’t have to explain yourself. I go monthly but I’m a paying customer so if I wanted to go more regularly, I would.

I did a Swedish massage course - it was considered that massage is very beneficial for muscle tension caused by stress, and that more people would benefit from it.

It is most likely the masseur would consider you as a sensible person who knows how to look after your physical and mental health. Once a week would be the best.

Sports massage usually involves extra training.

No, it’s completely normal for people to go once a month or more often who have chronic pain or soft tissue issues. Assuming you can afford it, it wouldn’t be at all weird. I’m sure they’d be thrilled with a regular booking.

I go to a spa every 2 weeks im there for about 3 hours and have a massage plus other things done.
Sometimes its a hot stone massage.
But its not wired or strange to do it often.
I love it.

Our local Thai place has signs up saying once a month is good for wellbeing
