Tips for post hospital stay - baby

I just wanted to hear others experiences or if anyone has any words of wisdom on managing my anxiety when my little one comes home.

My LO is 10 months old and was admitted to hospital, originally for overnight for observation because he had a bug and had stopped eating and drinking. Within a couple of hours he deteriorated was needing high flow oxygen amongst other things. He then slept solidly for nearly 3 days.
He's doing to much better and is recovering well and should be coming home in the next few days.

I just don't think I'll ever be able to sleep again, let alone put him to bed each night in his own room.

Totally normal to feel like this. Can you buy an owlet sock? It alerts you if their oxygen drops below a certain level.

After something like this, talk therapy would be extremely helpful. Our brains go into fight or flight when something like this happens.

Oh that's a really good idea. I wasn't sure if an owlet was suitable for an older baby or if that was just for newborns.

You would need to check the specs but there’s a lot of similar devices out there.

Oh sweetheart I know exactly how you feel! The book Mind over Mother by Anna Mathur absolutely helped me loads. I also had CBT therapy which I could self refer to and didn’t need to go to the GP. Have a google to see what’s in your area. As PP, any tools that can help ease the mind are totally worth it. Years and years on, I still check my childs breathing at night when I go to bed, and if I’m up in the night I will always go check on their breathing. My anxiety was absolutely consuming but totally manageable now. I don’t think it will ever go, but I absolutely know how to manage it through the CBT.

It's really reassuring to hear that others have felt this way.
I feel so much less alone. Thank you
