I have 2 disabled children. Always been their carer and they are now both 5 and 10. Both settled well into their special schools and I have a bit more time to sleep in the day a bit…
Anyway, husband works from home mode of the time now. I’ve always wanted, desperately, to get into Nursing. I know, I know. Lots of people (lots nurses) will say run for the hills and just DON’T! But I’ve never been able to shake wanting to scratch the itch
A couple of posts have come up for a trainee Nursing Associate post. I emailed the man in charge of interviewing and mentoring these nurses and asked a few sneaky questions via email. He looked out for my application.
I explained how I’d mostly only ever be able to do nights. And very awkward hours in the day to fit around school children.
He has accepted me! And says the Trust is willing to be flexible and help me get to where I want to be.
I am absolutely thrilled. I knew some aspects of nursing posts can be flexible once qualified but it would be difficult to get.
I know it might not work out because my hands are basically tied in some areas
But I’ve got a chance. I did it!
Just wanted to share because my friends are mostly exhausted carers not up for chatting just now. And nurses and midwives absolutely sick of the job… apart from one who’s currently on holiday and adores her job.
Sorry, hope nobody sees this as a brag post.
