Introducing cats - any top tips?

We've introduced new cats into the family before without any major problems but this time around current Cat1 is not having it!

Cat1 - female, 4 yrs old. Very friendly towards other cats in the garden, will invite herself next door to find their two to play with. We thought she would like having a sister...we could not have been more wrong. Hissing, growling, fleeing at the mere sight of Cat2.

Cat2 - female, approx 8 months, missing a leg (unsure if C1 is maybe scared of how she moves as it's very different to a 'normal' gait). Unable to go outside yet, partly because she's still so new, also as we need a fence panel fixed to make sure she can't slip out.

We've done scent swapping, C1 is fine with C2's bedding etc, she just does not like C2 herself! Introduced C2 in a carrier, C1 was ok-ish with this until C2 moved. Tried having the door to DD's room (C2's 'base') ajar and giving them both treats while they can see eachother. C1 hisses and runs the second she's finished eating.

To complicate things further we also have DDog who is fine with C2 if it's just him and her, but if C1 is around and reacts, he will follow suit, also growling/wanting to chase.

Has anyone got any tips on how we could try to improve feline relations or is it just going to be a matter of patience and hoping that C1 comes around eventually...

Sorry OP, I’ve never successfully managed to integrate new cats. The best result I’ve had was a kind of distant housemate relationship, with frosty meetings when passing on the landing.
Try posting in The Litter Box section.

I would post this in The Litter Tray. I hope it works out for you and the cats learn to get on Flowers

Hi, I have brother and sister twins.
Always been together harmoniously.

They hit 18 months and my tiny 4kg girl started attacking her 6.7kg brother. She had him terrified. Growling, chasing and attacking constantly for 2 days, even after separation to cool off.
Vets advise was at 18 months the female will always try to be top-cat. Any hormones from mum had now worn off and they are now stand alone adults.

Advise was to get Felaway. I bought the type for scrapping cats (rather than stressed/anxious cats) This contains the hormones of a mother cat who is nursing.
It took a few hours to work.
They are now besties again. We have had no further troubles.

I have no advise on introducing non-related cats, sorry.
I hope this can help in some way, wishing you luck x
