What has woke you at midnight lately ? I'll start...

So I have one cat draped over my feet, the other behind my head gently snoring, I'm drifting off...when the bed / room shakes laterally. Merely a few seconds, But I know it was a 'trembler'. Which means earthquake occurring somewhere (this is a very 'live' area). Probably far out in the ocean.
Let's hope ! So now I can't get back to sleep (cats blissfully unbothered of course). Has the earth moved for you recently ? Not necessarily because of seismic activity !
In any hopefully nice ways ! (Self soothing on MN ...and thinking about the grab bag I still haven't got round to filling....) 😳

I get woken up multiple times in the night by my neighbours.
They seem to live nocturnally- even the children.
The intermittent coming and going of cars at their house any time during the night or early morning wakes me every time and it's so difficult to get back to sleep.
If i had a couple of lovely cats asleep on my bed it would be very soothing though. Unfortunately I don't!

Pinkdreams · 04/05/2025 10:11

My one year old 1:30 every single night, sometimes 3:30 too

itsgettingweird · 04/05/2025 10:13

Cluster headaches.

Feel like the earth is ending - and not in a good way!

Hope alls calmed down where you are now Flowers

Theolittle · 04/05/2025 10:15

Worrying about the clusterfuck of reform councillors taking over the council I work for! Gonna be a nightmare

WilfredsPies · 04/05/2025 13:04

My bladder. I can go all day without needing the loo. The second I get into bed and start drifting off, it’s all systems go.

Stinksmum · 04/05/2025 13:14

2 Owls that sounded like they were having a very verbal disagreement. What a racket they made.

TeaandHobnobs · 04/05/2025 13:16

My dog, woofing at something she can see out the patio doors in the garden. So annoying.

Miley23 · 04/05/2025 13:19

Bloody motorbikes. I'm sick of them roaring about. Who on earth is speeding around on motorbikes at that time of night on a week day?

Aintgointogoa · 04/05/2025 17:08

Well I slept in really late ! And I sympathise with all of you, tho' I count my lucky stars I have never had a cluster headache @itsgettingweird. I didn't see anything on the seismic register for the area, but it was definitely a shake. There is no heavy traffic esp at that time of night that could rattle the building. However @miley23 I HEAR you (arf) as have the same problem here, it seems that late Saturday night is the time to be revving up and screaming around the city on souped up motorbikes. They couldn't go that fast during the day and/or would be copped. @WilfredsPies I am exactly in that same boat, it's like clockwork. Tho I can usually get back off quite quickly if I don't turn a light on. @Stinksmum that sounds quite sweet to me but I can imagine an owl standoff could be unsettling in the wee small hours. When DS was little he used to have very early am wake ups @Pinkdreams and for YEARS I would be awake for the 4 am feed which was exasperating when he was already at big school ! I've never had a dog @TeaandHobnobs but the two 'boys' do get the zoomies at times and clatter around squabbling as well. But rather that than annoying neighbours @Wholikesbreadandhoney.
Of course I went on Amazon in the doom hours to check grab bags supples and it's quite an exhaustive list ! I do have a wind up radio and spare battery pack I never remember to recharge. I do have copies of all my papers. But what about the cats ?!
There hasn't been a major incident for a long time here thank goodness, it's just a reminder that the earth is not sleeping tranquilly beneath our feet/beds. And the country is so volatile in other ways @Theolittle that it's worth bearing it in mind in case of civil unrest tho' I don't keep it in the forefront of my thoughts. I am sure I would be worried if I read about the state of politics here, I get enough information trickled down from friends - and cab drivers ! I think it's unlikely there will be armoured trucks on British streets any time soon, as there were here the last year of the pandemic when things turned very ugly.
But it's a lovely peaceful Sunday morning with just church bells ringing and the occasional dog barking in the distance. At least Sundays are less frantic / noisy than the rest of the week. Cup of coffee on the balcony and water the plants. Hope everyone is otherwise enjoying the May Bank holiday weekend and can catch a nap maybe 💐🫠
